Are the squares cut from the track for some kind of strain analysis? The regular spacing says "something sciency" to me.

I think they are draining the sand from the rails.

Saw this rumor on Screamscape that Dragon Challenge might be the next coaster to get a big refurbishment, albeit not quite as extensive as Hulk's. I assume by new trains that they mean Banshee-style trains. I certainly hope that a refurbishment might allow the two sides to duel again. When I rode it a few years ago, the dueling factor was something that really made it special.
2017-2018 - Dragon Challenge Refurbishment - Rumor - (11/24/15) I've been told that once the rebuild of The Incredible Hulk coaster is complete, we can expect to see a large refurbishment performed on the Dragon's Challenge coasters as well,
though it isn't expected to be as extreme as the Hulk's. According to one source, we will be all new coaster trains brought in, but we can expect to see the existing track get refurbished (though some sections may need replacing) as well as a complete repaint of the entire attraction.
So far the timeframe hasn't been locked down, but they expected it to take place sometime within the two years following the completion of the Hulk rebuild, which would mean sometime between mid 2016 to mid-2018. As always, there is always the constant rumor that Universal just might allow the dragon's to "duel" once again... but no one can confirm if this will happen for sure.

I mean, there's absolutely no reason they wouldn't have it dueling right now with the metal detectors in place. The real question though, is hulk the first B&M to close?

It's the first B&M to have its track scrapped. I would say the first "closed" B&M would have to be Led Zepplin.

Isn't Led Zeppelin being relocated to a park in Vietnam?

Yes, but it was the first one to be SBNO for a long period of time as it just reopened this year in Vietnam.

By that standard it should be Orochi, which sat for over 2 years before moving to France, or the SFNO Batman clone, which sat a similar period of time, and had already sat dormant in Japan for a year before being moved to SFNO.

They aren't really scrapped, no longer how long they're SBNO in my opinion.

Well what else could it be? Only RMC should redo Hulk and they should do it with T-Rex track because anything RMC touches will immediately turn to gold.

My best guess is they are replacing the launch with LSMs to cut down on maintenance and updating some track shaping. I'm not really sure what else it might be.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

If anything changes with the track its going to be pretty minor, or the supports or going to be awkward as hell. Footers are all still in place so there's not going to be anything major.
