Are you flying from Iowa to NJ? Otherwise it looks like you're missing a couple parks and KI looks like its just completely out of the way with this route.

Yeah I'm dropping off my car at Newark Airport and getting a rental and I'll be flying back from Des Moines. I just have to make sure they have the same rental agency in Des Moines.

And yeah Kings Island is technically out of the way, but I'm getting a hotel in Louisville and I will just drive there and back (or just find a hotel in between KI and Holiday World). It isn't really about the route it's more about the convenience off of the route. Dollywood is actually the one out of the way, but I just couldn't resist.

Also, I don't think I'm missing any parks. The only park that seems like it should be hit is Lake Winnie, but I decided to pass on that and save it for another trip. Same for Carowinds if you wanted to argue that. I've already hit all of the major Pennsylvannia parks, so I'll just be driving past them to get to my starting point.

With flying on the return trip, I agree with not missing any parks. It was if you were driving would be going right through SFGAm, and the string of PA parks. But as you said you have already been to all the PA parks, and nobody seems to be adding anything this year there isn't much point.
What are these for?

Well, this is the idea....
It should take about a month!
If I can get a month off during the end of summer I'll go for it. I've saved up for awhile now, so I should be fine there. Its just the time ;)
Its either this or a month in europe :)
I would do both back to back (year apart) if work would allow it!
I don't know if retail would allow such a long absence.

I decided to scratch Michigan's Adventure from the trip plans. I'm hoping to replace it with both Holiday World and Kentucky Kingdom.

Now that I'm starting to figure out plans for the year, here is what it is looking like for me:

Definite:

Disneyland*
Disney California Adventure Park*
Knott's Berry Farm*
Six Flags Magic Mountain*
Universal Studios Hollywood

Likely:

California's Great America
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Carowinds
Dollywood
Six Flags Over Georgia
Silverwood Theme Park
Playland
Wild Waves Theme Park
Washington State Fair

Possibly:

Legoland California
SeaWorld San Diego
Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Lake Winnepesaukah
Alabama Splash Adventure
Cultus Lake Adventure Park
SeaWorld San Antonio
Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Long Shot:

Mundo Divertido
Fun Spot America
Busch Gardens Tampa
Universal Studios Florida
Universal Studios Islands of Adventure
SeaWorld Orlando

*Already visited in 2016

It's likely more cuts will come over the next couple months as I finalize my plans. Most likely, I will do all the California parks plus a Deep South trip and one of the following long weekend trips: Pacific Northwest, San Antonio, or Florida. I've also decided to delay any potential Mid-West or North East trips to future years.
Coaster Count: 535 (114 wood, 444 steel); Park Count: 110
Top 5 Wood: El Toro, Voyage, Thunderhead, Outlaw Run, Boulder Dash
Top 5 Steel: Superman the Ride, Fury 325, Millennium Force, X2, Intimidator 305

That's a really wild trip, Dirk. It's really shocking to me that you're going to SFFT and SFOT in the same day. I would rather spend all day at SFFT and forget that SFOT exists. And also KK and HW in the same day too?
X2 ??? Intimidator 305 ??? Millennium Force ??? Iron Rattler ??? El Toro ??? Fury 325 ??? Maverick ??? Skyrush ??? Twisted Timbers ??? Voyage

SFFT wasn't that special on our last visit. So we'll probably just ride the few missed rides and re-ride them depending on the crowds and how much fun they are. Also there is a good opportunity we'd might hop in the final hour the day before as well. Which gives us a good head-start as well.

KK and HW perhaps on the same day due hearing about how quiet KK apparently is. Another reason for this would be because we're visiting HW as well the day before. :)
