So what exactly is the NL2 Tournament?

The 2016 CoasterCrazy No Limits 2 Tournament is a contest that is consisted of three rounds. To make it to the next round you must use your skills and creativity to pass the previous round. The catch is that only a few people make it to each round. There will be deadlines/templates/and curveballs thrown at you during this contest. Only the best of the best make it to the final round and only 1 will be announced a winner.

How do I enter?

You enter by typing "I'm in" on this thread. Your username will then be added to a list of other users who have also entered.

Can I drop out?

Of course you can. Just know that each round is designed with that certain number of people. If a person drops out there may be extra or less work on the others he/she is competing against.

How do I submit my entry?

You will submit your entry via email. The email that you will send it to will be released at a later date.

When does the contest start?

The contest starts Monday, February 22nd. 2 weeks from today.

What is the prize?

The winner will receive an actual coaster wheel, tons of points donated to your coastercrazy account, a write up discussing your amazing effort in the competition that will be posted to the homepage, and bragging rights.

I think that is it, am I missing something?

There will be 3/4 judges to judge each coaster. That way it will be in no way biased towards anyone. This is a challenging contest but will be fun for everyone. This contest will also be posted on NoLimits Exchange as well. There will be dead time in between each round for the judges to judge the submissions as well as decide who is moving forward and who is not (this dead time will be about 2 weeks).

What are the submission dates?

All submission must be due by Midnight EST.

Feb 22nd-March 9th (First Round)
March 21st- April 6th (Second Round)
April 11th- 25th (Final Round)
Judging ends May 1st

*Submission dates are subject to change if needed.

Well that sums it up!

If you are interested in joining and have any more questions feel free to ask on this thread and I will do my best to answer them! Let the games begin!

Exactly. The contest starts February 22nd at midnight EST. That is when the first round rules and guidelines will be put out. I will also release the date on when the first curveball for that round gets released as well! Good luck!

Are these curveballs going to be random requests from the "park" in the middle of the design process?
What are these for?

Looks like we're making parks for Saudi royal oil-lord trash.

So we're not going to be told all the requirements until after we all ready build some of it. The basically means you'll have to start again from scratch after that, especially if your using FVD. Might as well not even start till after that then.

The curveballs can be anything from a certain length to add another coaster to it must feature a certain element, etc. It wont be anything none of you are not capable of. Also you are playing for a pretty hefty prize so we are not just going to give it to you easily ;) Its a tournament for a reason. I have already done the tournament myself and everything is possible.

But you also knew the curveballs ahead of time? Hosestly I think that's a ridiculous idea, you basically just shortening the time you can build for.

Eh I think it'll work out fine. Like he said if it's forcing a loop or something into a ride later on it shouldn't be that difficult.

Well that is the point of the tournament. And I actually didn't really know the curveballs ahead of time... I kinda came up with them as I went and decided the ones that fit best. You get about 2 and a half weeks to build which should be plenty of time. If more users need more time I have no issue extending a deadline. However, this is the way the tournament is set up and I did state that there are curveballs on the first post well in advance to anyone signing up. I assure you it wont be anything too crazy and like I said it is possible.

Whilst there is a strong argument this leaves tools users much worse off (although isn't it far quicker to build using tools? Slight trade off?) I wholeheartedly agree with Blase on this - this tournament is meant to be difficult and really test people - and this is a nice switch up idea that I'm interesting to see how plays out!

No, it's not. An experienced hand builder and an experienced FVDer will usually get similar quality rides in the same amount of time. And yeah, it is a pain in the ass having to redo the layout in FVD, but hey, it's a tournament and it may be challenging.
