So Six Flags will be adding VR to 9 of their parks this year! Here is the announcement and list of rides.

Not sure how to feel about this. Sounds like something I'd probably try once and then never use it again, but I'll reserve judgement until riding.

i thought the operations were bad as they are, this will literally boost queue times through the roof
Now usually there would be a banner image here, but i cant add one. have some random text instead

I wish they would leave the virtual reality stuff to video games and stuff.....putting these on Thrill rides and roller coasters in my opinion is not cool. Your taking the actual FUN out of riding a roller coaster. Who wants to ride a roller coaster and not see what they're doing while on the ride, but instead having something latched to your head and look at a screen. This might not bring in that much money for SF. But i guess congrats to launching it i guess.

VR is better than you might think, the only downside is operations

That's why they put them on rides that will probably need the revive to help with bringing people back into those areas of the parks, especially with Shockwave at SFOT, and Superman: Krypton Coaster at SFFT.

Those aren't even the good VR headsets, those are just phones strapped into headset chassis.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

Uhh..... Superman / Bizarro at SFNE? Are you F&%KING kidding me right now? Six Flags literally continues to baffle me. I thought they wouldn't be able to anymore. That coaster is consistently voted one of the best in the world. I don't UNDERSTAND.
X2 ??? Intimidator 305 ??? Millennium Force ??? Iron Rattler ??? El Toro ??? Fury 325 ??? Maverick ??? Skyrush ??? Twisted Timbers ??? Voyage

Seems like a cool concept.
Unfortunately I see to many scenarios where this ends badly.
Horrible wait times, rough ride experience, head injuries, sync issues, and all possible lawsuit related too headsets flying off during ride and hitting the person in the back.
Good try SF in trying something different, but I don't see this being a good investment.
Revolution is also part of this BTW, gold members have early acces in late March.

This actually seems like a really good way to plus older coasters on a budget. However, I do see it as a bit gimmicky and don't think it will be a permanent solution, but for a season or two it might work. It's definitely something I'd like to try at least once (and probably will on New Revolution next month), but I have doubts it will become the preferred way to ride roller coasters. It needs to be done well, however, as poor quality VR or poor syncing could ruin the ride. Also, for those concerned about some aspects I've been hearing that:

-The VR system is completely optional
-The VR system is not an upcharge
-The VR system will have a separate queue
-The VR system will have a fitting area prior to boarding to minimize dispatch delays
-The VR system will have several head straps that will be checked by employees to prevent loss of the device during the ride

Sounds like Six Flags has a pretty good plan for this.
Coaster Count: 535 (114 wood, 444 steel); Park Count: 110
Top 5 Wood: El Toro, Voyage, Thunderhead, Outlaw Run, Boulder Dash
Top 5 Steel: Superman the Ride, Fury 325, Millennium Force, X2, Intimidator 305

I don't like the idea of VR on roller coasters, but I haven't ridden any coasters with VR, so hopefully this turns out well.

Yeah pretty much. Or panics and takes it off mid-ride only to have to fall 200ft to the ground below.

I firmly believe they jumped on this and threw one into every park as a ploy to incur longer wait times so that more people buy flash passes

I'm just struggling to understand what you do if the train stops short in the station and a bunch of idiots try to get out early like the dumbass from Utah did at Knotts.

Or someone leaning way far over with their neck twisted while Revolution bottoms out at the start of the loop lol

I actually find Theme Park Innovations' thoughts (Thanks for quoting, Mikey.) educational.
