wouldnt it be great if you were required to rate a coaster after you download it?? everyone wants a rate on their ride, this would be great! it could be in the form of a pop-up window that comes up when you download, and stays up untill you submit a rating!!!

....i know it would be hard to do and probably expensive but its just a thought [:D][:p][:)][;)]

no.. no and no. WWS.Com does not force people to rate unlike some other [r] sites. It is the memebrs free will to rate coasters and im sure wws will back me up

Yeah, i'm with edge there. You can't force people to rate a ride, i meanm if they don't want to rate it, then i'm sure they have a reason for not rating. But i do agree that more people should rate more of the rides that they download

Other sites do that and it sucked so I quit using it. if you want to rate fine if not don't. Some people are on the go so they don't have time. Rating against will = haphazardly ratings. Rating if you feel like it = Rating that are true and not their just to be thier.

I think I'm with Coaster on this one...but not every coaster - there should be a limit to how many you can download without rating. Say, you can't download any more coasters unless you keep an 8% download ratio or something. say for every 100 downloads, you HAVE to rate 8 of them. I know that I don't like getting stuff not rated, and I also don't enjoy seeing coasters make the top 5 of the week based on one good rating....so....that's my thoughts

how about a points system, like award 5 points per rate, 2 per forum post and charge 1 point per download?

I have to agree that forcing people to rate is a bad idea. Yes a few people would be pleased by this but you would piss off more. It would also lead to people just giving 5's for each category and comments that would not be as good and helpful as they are now. I was banned from that other site for giving my honest opinion on a coaster I was forced to rate due the minimum coaster rating. I like to see people?????????s designs but some times I do not have the time, no other comments than what has already been said, or just don't feel like rating.. I like the way the system works now and I think the points system that WWS proposes is a much better way to entice people to rate.

I think it's a bad idea. It's on the same premise as manditory rating. I'm with the Edge on freewill. I too dislike the other site which I won't mention that makes it manditory. WWS, you have a great thing going as it is. Users will rate if they feel like it. I'm rating more and more, now that I have a feel of what I like. The other thing I like is how opinions and ratings differ with each user that rates. Differences on opinion is the kind of recipe for great rides, I mean why fix what's not broken? ;) - Nyssa

You make some good points there, but again it takes away from free will. I think it's decisions like these that taint that principle. Usually, if a track is good enough, I find that it gets rated accordingly. Of course, I'll go along with what's ultimately decided. - Nyssa

i like what wws said...if you had something to gain if you rated, then more people would rate and it wouldn't be manditory. you get the ratings, and the free will! after so many points you should get a prise (nothing expensive) ...like admission to a special section or something. you could give the top 2 raters of each month admission to a certain chatroom for the next month or something. it could be like a contest! hey, just an idea to toy with :)

pretty [hello] idea with the coaster rate thingy and if you do the point thingy, people will be posting pointless stuff in the fourms and there'd be loads more of post's with people trying to win. and also on uploading a track, it takes some people longer to build stuff with work and school. I think they should just keep points on how many track's you rate. It would be a good thing having people rate alot of coasters instead of posting alot in the fourm

Nyssa, most people maintain about an 8% download to rating ratio anyway, so it's not a big deal. The main thing there is so there aren't people who are just downloading EVERY coaster without rating at least some of them.

I think you miss the point I make about the principle of the matter. As I said, I will go with whatever is ultimately decided. After all, I am reasonable. It doesn't change my opinion though. - Nyssa

I hate being forced for anything! It's just not nice making people do what they don't want to do. It may make a few people happy but i'm against you on this!

Yeah, being forced to rate coasters would totally suck.

I think it's due to the lack of people downloading that things aren't getting rated. Like I will only rate something if I actually download it or if I feel like I have something to comment about it. otherwise ill pass it by.

Yeah, i dont totally agree with the idea either, because i used to belong to another coastr site that forced me to rate and i quit because it wouldnt let me download ne thing else if i didnt rate evrysingle track i downloaded.

yes, but you all are missing the point. sure you have to rate other coasters, but if the ratio is small enough, you will maintain it without trying. and the bonus side of that is your coasters will almost ALWAYS get rated sooner or later. There are a lot of coasters that get downloaded and never rated & I'm sure that doesn't encourage those people to upload any more coasters. I would be all for a small (SMALL) download:rating ratio, something like 20:1, which most people maintain anyway!!!

yeah, Coaster Sims did that and then every thing gets screwed up, then accounts get banned, so its a bad idea, plus this website is cool like that
