Mystic Timbers - Kings Island's 2017 GCI POV!

Greg Scheid, the general manager of Kings Island, posted this tweet a few weeks ago along with the picture below that reads "Always good news when Rob visits with blueprints! #greatnewsforthefuture". While there aren't any other details given, I have a feeling this could be for the long rumored Kings Island gigacoaster.

Guess we'll find out on opening day! Plus i know this always doesnt work but could we get a new coaster next year? I mean we got Banshee a year after CP got gatekeeper.......and they're getting Valravn this year..........soooooooo its possible.

I feel like if the park gets a giga it'll be by B&M............ i dont think Cedar Fair is very happy with Intamin after the problems they've had with I305. PLUS the Last two gigas in the park chains have been by B&M..

I305 isn't visually appealing, and the B&M's were put in place (along with Gatekeeper) to make a statement at the front entrance. Maybe we'll see ore intamins pop up again in the USA if the new ones are not maintenance nightmares in China.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be some land clearing going on behind Banshee?

That's definitely a weird place to put a giga since CF likes to do the whole entrance thing. My bet is still on a Triotech dark ride.

And i have an idea that might be carried out, based on land clearing now. The Dinos are done after this year. I believe they can put a station and lift where the dinos are now, and run the course back behind Firehawk and FOF, and where the land clearing is now, i believe that will be used for the turn around. I Strongly believe we're getting a new coaster for 2017.

I meant to specify on the B&M's. Leviathan actually does pass over the entrance. The hammerhead and turns before it are literally right over the path that leads to the entrance. CW didn't specifically make a new entrance, but they did place it where it can seem imposing on guests right when they drive up to the park.

^True True. I honestly feel if they're putting in a new coaster at KI, It'll be ALOT different than the other two B&M gigas, hopefully it will be B&, but then again they dont have any coasters by Intamin.

What he's referencing is Matt Ouimet or whatever his name is trying to add things to the parks that make a statement right at the front gate telling you you're going to have a good time. He's also "refreshing" areas that previously looks like ass and trying to "fix" issues it seems. This is why most parks have had their entrance or a portion of the park redone to fix in with a new addition, the most notable examples being Gatekeeper and the two B&M gigas, especially Fury.

King's Island is probably next on the list to get an "entrance coaster" as it certainly has the room.

^ There might be a slight possibility that "neither small nor large" rocket coaster like iSpeed would come in the middle-sized woodland as VF15 mentions just behind Banshee.

I dont think KI will get a new entrance anytime soon.
I read in an interview done by Matt (CEO OF Cedar Fair) and he said he likes the image of the park with the entrance they have now, and he doesnt see them changing anytime soon.

I don't think Kings Island has enough space for a front gate coaster, though I do wish they would either replace or renovate the entrance plaza because it looks plain ugly.

^That to, the only places available are in Rivertown and behind FOF/Firehawk, and where SOB's Rose bowl was.

Yeah the front entrance is like a huge building with a conference / banquet hall or something lol. It's really ugly. It would be a huge demolition undertaking. I guess they could build a big ol' airhill on the parking lot side of that building or build right on top of that building (not feasible).

What if those park advertising boards were digital signages?

I know this isnt 2017 related, kinda shocked me a little bit but the scrambler is getting a new paint job and a new lighting package. Hopefully its like Shake Rattle and Rolls.

Some recent updates for the 2016 season that have been captured from the parks twitter and my personal camera. Slide complex is maybe at least 50% done (ALOT of whole pieces are assembled on the ground), the new rivertown funnel cake stand is complete with concrete being poured on Friday. Meanwhile on the White Water Canyon side of things with the new entrance. I do know that the entrance will use where the tombstone terrortory entrance was and there will be a Train crossing to get to the ride. Where and how the exit will go I have not heard yet. The toll plaza is complete and they are working on a sign up front before you turn in. Otherwise the park is looking good for the season.
