This afternoon Dollywood posted an announcement on their website:

Image

From the statement, it appears to indicate all roller coasters made by RMC are ordered closed until further noticed due to a mechanical part needing to be replaced.

However, this is a statement from Dollywood and not from Rocky Mountain Construction so we can't assume this includes roller coasters build at other parks or just one build at Dollywood itself.

We will update this thread as we get more information!

Update #1

Kentucky Kingdom confirms that RMC's president, the closure does NOT include Storm Chaser

Not all, just Wildfire, Joker, and Lightning Rod. Wicked Cyclone was open today.

Major bummer. I'm supposed to hit Discovery Kingdom this week. It seems like the closure is only applicable to the new crop of 2016 RMCs?

Lightning Rod and Wildfire appear to be the only coasters affected by this, though I've been hearing mixed reports on Joker. As far as I can tell, those are the only RMCs that are affected and Dollywood's statement appears to be in error. The issue appears to be a new hydraulic cylinder RMC used on some of their installations this year. Due to a manufacturing defect, this cylinder has been recalled and the rides using it have been closed until the parts can be replaced.

This topic title is quite misleading when most RMC coasters aren't even affected by this.

Twisted Colossus is apparently closed too. Not sure if its related though.

Not just the thread title, the statement Dollywood posted is the confusing part. Wonder why they said "all" when it seems only the 2016 woodies (and possibly Joker) were affected.

I can elaborate on this matter. RMC put new types of hydraulic cylinders for the restraint mechanism in the trains of Wildfire and Lightning Rod. These cylinders were recalled, so the recall only affects Lightning Rod and Wildfire
A big drop is a good drop.
