A launched conversion would be cool. But that would make CPs launch total to 4. Also, it begins! Id expect an announcement to come sometime in early October.

A lift would bring its lift total to 17.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

These are certainly interesting developments, but I'm still skeptical that Mean Streak will be ready for 2017 (unless Cedar Point intends to open it in July). My guess is that RMC will deconstruct Mean Streak now, then work on the waterpark expansion and other coaster projects for next year (I'm pretty confident there's at least one) and resume work on Mean Streak in June. They do more than coasters after all.

As for an announcement, I did hear that RMC will have a big announcement at IAAPA this year. Most expect it to be the first T-Rex/Raptor, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Mean Streak conversion gets announced then as well.
Coaster Count: 535 (114 wood, 444 steel); Park Count: 110
Top 5 Wood: El Toro, Voyage, Thunderhead, Outlaw Run, Boulder Dash
Top 5 Steel: Superman the Ride, Fury 325, Millennium Force, X2, Intimidator 305

Cedar Point dismantles 2 more attractions

SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Bulldozers are rumbling at Cedar Point.

The park's mini golf course, which stood in Magnum XL-200??????s shadow for years, is the latest attraction to bite the dust.

Spokesperson Tony Clark says Challenge Golf has been permanently removed to make room for a Hotel Breakers expansion.

Upon completion in 2018, the project will bring 158 additional guest rooms to the recently renovated Hotel Breakers.

On the opposite side of Magnum??????s coaster tracks, crews have also dismantled the RipCord thrill ride. Its footprint will soon be taken over by Cedar Point Shores -- a water park expansion featuring an all-new slide complex.

But it doesn??????t seem RipCord is heading to Cedar Point??????s ride graveyard anytime soon.

??????News on RipCord will come at a later date,?????? Clark tells WKYC in an e-mail, perhaps hinting that it will return at a new location within the park. Some fans have been speculating it will rise again in the area once held by Shoot the Rapids along the Frontier Trail.

Challenge Golf and RipCord were the final attractions left standing at Cedar Point's "Challenge Park."

Meanwhile, Cedar Point closed Mean Streak forever earlier this month. Development plans for that swath of land have not been revealed, but rumor has it the ride will be a wood-steel hybrid coaster experience.

Any ideas where Ripcord could be going? It would be neat if it was put on the beach.

Shame. It would be cool if they could put it practically on the beach like Wicked Twister and have you swing out towards the lake.

Looks like the bottom of Mean Streak's lift hill has been removed.

Like I said and keep saying if they want to do a good RMC it'll need to be entirely custom

It isn't being torn down completely, they're being careful to leaving everything in good condition instead of just ripping it out quickly. Most likely the lift will start later so the lift crossover can stay.

Ahh that makes more sense. I'm guessing RMC would also be making the lift hill steeper as well as adding a pre-lift hill section with some humps. I can't wait to see what they're going to do to it! Going to Cedar Point Sunday so I'll see if I can get some pictures.

I'd be interested to see if RMC would go down the path of partially using the existing wood, then adding more where the layout requires it. This would be a much bigger and mroe difficult task but potentially could reap the rewards as Turbo said - the good RMC's are generally built up from scratch.

or they're carefully removing the valuable stuff like the drive/gear reduction/chain.
