Heard an interesting rumor from a fellow employee that Looping Starship might be on its way out soon because it's apparently been having some mechanical issues, but that is just a rumor so I'll leave it at that.

It's an annually recurring rumor. I know they'll eventually trash it because it never ever ever fills up anymore and most people I speak with really hate it. Hopefully they remove it and add a nasty good hydromagnetic water slide and some other deck stuff. Maybe that will happen simultaneously with the imminent Excalibur removal.

More importantly, this Star flyer is tall as f u c k and I am pretty excited for it.

230 feet tall is nothing compared to SFNE's 410 and SFoT's 400 ft.

I agree. If only they could add something... just, something on top of it. A glowing star would've been nice.

That's a joke right? What complaint could they have possibly given?

They should only be allowed to complain about the coaster being built too far away from them.

They need a visible sign saying "VF!" also meaning "Victoryfair!" on top of a tower! :D

Oh sorry I thought you were being sarcastic towards Paradox. The topper will surely light up at night and it is actually a 5-point star from the perspective of the ground.

One thing that bothers me about all the Star Flyers with that color scheme is the colors aren't evenly distributed over the tower.

Now that you mention it, I will never unsee the unevenly distributed colors. Why, brain, why?

Irvine Ondrey Engineering is coming to Valleyfair this offseason to give Wild Thing some updates. Nice to see them making changes to my baby. :)

Oh my god, I love following Irvine Ondrey... this is really exciting. I wonder what changes they're gonna make exactly.

They're saying via their Facebook responses that enthusiasts are going to enjoy the improvements that they're going to make. Maybe the B-Block brakes won't bite as hard anymore?

My first hope was new trains coming in, MCBR mod, etc. The current trains are pretty rough on the track, especially on the transition out of the inclined turnaround. I was under the impression that Irvine was more associated with programming and electronics, but maybe it's a group effort. Either way, I'm intrigued.

Cmon guys it's an obvious 20 year rehab. I doubt it'll even get new trains.

Valleyfair names new vice president and general manager

Shakopee amusement park Valleyfair announced Monday that Brad Marcy has been named the park???s new vice president and general manager. He replaces Dave Frazier, who held the position since 2012. Frazier has accepted a position with the Minnesota Zoo.

Marcy, a native of Pittsburg, has more than 15 years of leadership experience in the amusement park industry. He has spent the past year as corporate director for strategic initiatives for Cedar Fair Entertainment Co., Valleyfair???s parent company. He previously was vice president and general manager at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa., and at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC.

???Valleyfair has a rich history and a bright future,??? Marcy said. ???It is a very exciting time to join the Valleyfair team and I am proud to be a part of it.???

Valleyfair will open for the 2017 season on Friday, May 12 with the debut of its newest attraction, North Star. The new 230-foot star flyer ride is the only one of its kind in the upper Midwest and will spin riders 20 stories above the ground at speeds up to 40 mph.
