So as some of you may know Lake Compounce will be doing extensive refurbishments and retracking on both Boulder Dash and Wildcat for 2017. They announced yesterday that Martin and Vleminckx will be doing the retracking and also posted a picture of Millennium Flyer trains which could mean that one or both of the rides could be receiving new trains. Since M&V is doing the work, maybe we'll see Timberliners.

These guys worked for CCI and GG.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

I would hate to see Timberliners. I wouldn't mind Millennium Flyers, but I would prefer PTCs. However, the MFs would probably be better than the PTCs it has now. Also, I would have preferred a GCI retrack, but any kind of work being done is great to see.

I personally love Timberliners. The ones at Quassy were very comfortable and provided a lot of airtime. I wouldn't be disappointed if it was MF's either though. I'm really happy to see Wildcat get some love hopefully it can be more enjoyable next year.

I just don't know how Boulder Dash's crazy laterals would be handled with the Timberliner restraints. I like being in a seat with sides so that the laterals get distributed. Also, I've heard that Timberliners don't run well on larger coasters from multiple people (or it's just Mt. Olympus being Mt. Olympus lol) Plus, I get way more airtime on PTCs since the restraint doesn't come down all the way on me.

If Martin & Vleminckx is doing the retracking, I'm 99% sure Boulder Dash won't be getting Millennium Flyers as GCI will only sell them for rides they've worked on. Timberliners, however, are quite possible and would still be an improvement from the PTC trains the ride is running now. I just hope the park does a thorough retracking if they get the trains, as Timberliners are lighter and will amplify any roughness in the track (that's why Holiday World ultimately opted out of them...they didn't want to spend millions of dollars to give Voyage a complete retrack).

As for Wildcat, my guess is that will just get some trackwork. If they do get new trains for it, they'd probably be PTC trains with individual lapbars (or they could potentially just move the Boulder Dash trains over to it).

If M&V is doing the work, will that make Boulder Dash the first coaster to be retracked by both them and GCI?

The report was actually fake according to Screamscape. So there is no refurbishment at the moment.

He's referring to the lie that some New England ACE members were spreading that the triple up would become a double up designed by Alan Schilke. Refurbishments are still happening as the park put those pictures I posted earlier on their official Instagram and have not taken them down or released any statements about them yet.

Good to hear that M&V is doing the retracking. It's only a matter of time before they get to build a fullsize coaster in the western world. <3

If they retrack the entire ride then Timberliners will be ok. The reason Hades sucks now is because they didn't retrack any of it and the much lighter Timberliners exacerbate the roughness on the ride. That's why Holiday World ultimately opted out on them.

Timberliners are never ok.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

They work great on Wooden Warrior though.

Oooh I'm surprised they didn't design it with a full life-sized wildcat statue on the zero car.

Doesn't Wildcat currently only has 9 cars on its train? So, they are actually adding longer trains. Noice.

Definitely not what I was expecting, and I can't help but feel these will look out of place on a 1920s wood coaster, but if they improve the ride experience I'm all for it. I'm definitely curious to hear how the ride is next year as Wildcat is currently one of my bottom five wood coasters.

The park posted on Facebook that the new trains are actually only 7 cars long, so it's actually a capacity loss of 4 riders per train.

So are those GCI trains or Timberliners?

Does the train length for "GCI" trailered woodies have anything to do with the number of turns?

They're Millennium Flyers by GCI.

But if the ride will run two trains capacity will actually be much better since currently Wildcat only runs 1.

Wildcat can run two since 2007......Lake Compounce can't run two.
