I personally think that a launched lift hill will be extremely unlikely given all the problems Lightning Rod has been having. RMC does make their lift hill's quite steep and i believe this will be a chain lift. I'm also still not convinced that this will be 2018 given the amount of progress that has already been made to the ride itself. I think the xmas video hint was just to throw us off balance shortly before the announcement. If it's not announced next month than it'll probably be 2018. For now I'm betting on 2017.

Mean Streak update photo below, looks like much of the original track has been ripped out but not too much more RMC track in place. We also have confirmation that RipCord has been relocated to the old Shoot-the-Rapids spot. Personally hoping that the RipCord relocation is only temporary because that's prime land for another coaster. ;)

Photos from Coaster Studios.

EDIT: Photos broken

Quick Question, Does anyone else plan on going to the park's Winter chill out next month? Me and a buddy from Diamondback's crew are heading up and i'll be sure to grab some nice new photos of the new train tracks installed.

Wow that article is really stroking RMC's......yeah. Pretty sure Intamin has been the most pioneering manufacturer for like 25 years running but okay.

They're great rides, but I don't see how using box track instead of tubular track on a minetrain is an amazing technological innovation compared to say Intamin's rocket coasters being so high tech that people were worried about China stealing the technology for aircraft carriers, whereas RMC couldn't even contract out a launch properly (unlike B&M).

It's not an amazing innovation until they can deal with the friction issues it presents in a reasonable way. They advertise the wrong way for them too and offer up these NEW RIDES with WACKY ELEMENTS when they could honest to god make a damned fortune portraying these as the next generation of Wooden Coaster. Enthusiasts would argue for years consistently on that marketing but they are forgetting one crucial thing. Wooden coasters suck maintenance wise and smoothness wise. These steel track bits reduce all of those issues to nearly nothing in comparison making a longer lasting good experience. They could make aesthetically non inverting coasters with more forgiving restraints in honor of older styled wooden coasters or even make simple out and back layouts instead of focusing on cramming 30 elements into a space of 10 meters which can be uncomfortable and awkward.

Rant aside 2018 is the most probable year. I honestly don't really care about that I'm still amazed that CK got that prediction almost dead on.

If by "revolutionized the wooden coaster" they mean "ruined the wooden coaster" then yeah I agree. RMC makes wooden coasters for the kids who think laterals are painful. There is no classic wooden coaster feel on an RMC lol.

I like RMC for the most part. They make fun, but gimmicky rides. However, I can't stand how the enthusiast community treats them like their coasters are the standard for all other manufacturers. RMC has instilled an attitude that wooden coasters can't be good anymore.

It's not the laterals that's the problem its the state of the track itself and the fact that wood warps creating a much rougher ride.

You might want to take any "Facts" in that artical with a bit of salt. Or like a salt truck. Last time I checked, outlaw run had 2(or 3 if you count that weird over bank) inversions not 4 and was actually only the 6th fastest wooden coaster. Also having ridden an Iron horse, they feel absolutely nothing like a wooden coaster. I do have to say the topper track rehabs are great though. Those sections just feel like a new wooden coaster.

Anyway I get less and less hopeful for a 2017 opening every week. But on the other hand, all the track has been removed and that's a massive chunk of the work. Construction only started 2 months ago and theirs still another 4 till opening day. There is no way that this project requires another 16 MONTHS to finish.
All hail your great Arrow Dynamics overlords.

Yea the only possible way this could be for 2018 would be if they made a launched lift hill and gave it a year for testing before it opened. Considering how mild the winter has been this year, the progress already made which includes TRACK ALREADY ON THE SUPPORTS, I feel its almost criminal they haven't announced a single detail. Yes, Maverick took a good year and a half to build and wasn't announced till they were halfway done with it, but that was only because of the major overhaul to the power infrastructure in that area of the park that required it. RMC has gotten the converson thing down, and all of their conversions havent taken two frigging years. At this point it's just stupid to think it's 2018.
