A 14 year old girl has been killed on a Chinese knockoff top spin yesterday due to a restraint failure. Here's the link to the video (Facebook) that shows the accident. WARNING: It may be disturbing for some.

This isn't the first accident for this ride either. Last year this happened:

Here's an article detailing the accident.

Yeah it's official, I'm staying far away from these things.
Ok but how desperate you have to be to voluntarily fly from another country to go to Thorpe?

Given China's known Health and Safety standards I'm just staying away from China full stop.

Normally I face-palm internally at any claims that amusement park rides are unsafe, but I might be inclined to agree if they were talking about knock-off rides. I don't think it's a good idea to ride anything in China that's not from one of the main manufacturers that we're all familiar with.

This is what happens when you deregulate and have no standards.

I know that, from my experience, on some Topspins, those who are kind of skinny (including me) may feel unsafe because the restraints don't "tightly" come to their thighs!

Yeah I'd feel pretty unsafe if the restraint came open too.

Looking at the video. I actually rode that top spin. xD Very sketchy seatbelts and restraints.
