Today Happy Valley Beijing has announced their newest expansion. Based on the art it will include a B&M hyper and a B&M family invert and also a rapids ride.

I think the main reason if for convenient access, I think people have less cars there. Also, it seems very "planned", compared to a lot of parks, like say, Magic Mountain, who bought large plots of land in the middle of a rural area, close enough to a highway, and then suburbs filled in later. I'm sure the population density is a factor as well, especially since the majority is along that eastern half with all that desert in the west. Even though a lot of food is imported, from countries like Brazil, for example, I think there is more of a distinction between agricultural areas and living areas. Here, in the west, it's pretty much broken up into three areas: urban, agricultural, and wilderness, unlike Massachusetts or Germany, where there is more overlap between woods and agriculture.
