Apparently there are news posts going around this morning that suddenly the Wooden Wild Mouse in Blackpool Pleasure Beach is being removed.

News: Shock as Wild Mouse is removed from Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach classic rollercoaster Wild Mouse has been removed from the park ahead of the 2018 season
The coaster which was one of the most well regarded coasters in the UK was built in 1958 by Frank Wright and was one of only two remaining of its ride type.
Picture below shows the now empty space that was the former site of Wild Mouse

BPB Statement in Ref to the Removal of the "Wild Mouse"

After very careful consideration and planning, our current winter work programme has seen the permanent closure and dismantling of the Wild Mouse and the removal of the facade of the former Trauma Tower attractions. This will create an area for future exciting developments.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a constantly evolving amusement park and has been for the past 122 years. The changes it has seen over the years are what has made it the great park it is today. This, coupled with a relatively small amount of space, means that in order to progress and look to the future we occasionally need to alter the landscape of the park to make way for future developments.

A statement from the Club will follow shortly.

I know the emotion is raw for us all, but can I please ask that we all be respectful on your posts. This was a very difficult decision for all involved.

Hopefully it's not gone as suddenly a tweet from the Blackpool South Pier appeared:
If you???ve ever tried to get rid of mice you???ll find it???s incredibly hard. Those wild things just keep coming back...

They probably were giving it a yearly inspection, found something terrible, and decided to axe it.

It was down for refurbishment, I mean the condition of the entire ride was questionable lol.

Whatever the reason is. I really hope it's still in some kind of condition so it can be sold to a different park. I'm glad that I still had a ride last year, but the suddenly decision is kind of stupid. As for such old, rare classic. They've really taken it down quite fast without giving the fans a pre-notice.

Keep it up Amanda! You're doing a great job!

Can't wait for the new fountain display that will replace the ride!

Darn it... just a few months before my visit. I hope it won't be replaced with a standard model mouse.

Of all the roller coasters I've ever ridden, this is probably the one (and maybe The Ultimate) that made me genuinely feel like I could be about to die. That of course is why it was awesome.
So this is a shame. It probably is the only coaster I've ever had fear of riding

I hope they put in another wild mouse - did anyone go on the Wilde Maus XXL at Winter Wonderland? It was genuinely amazing

Someone mentioned on Pleasure Beach Experience there has been talks of one of these taking its place.

^ Now one of those would be awesome! I've never ridden an XXL version before but would love to.

Incredibly good fun and a similar footprint I imagine. Won't be too much to buy and easy to maintain. I'm speculating but I would absolutely love to see one there!

The XXL is basically just a normal Wild Mouse coaster with an extended lifthill and 2 added drops. Even if they would replace it with something like this, it will never be the same. The feeling of a wooden wild mouse can't be compared to any of the steel coasters. They're completely insane by itself and they have a tremendous high fun factor.

Might as well share this video:

Some offride footage and an onride video by an Ex-member: Gazag. Back when the park still was looking nice.

Hi everyone,
yes im still here dirk so not quite an ex member. not hugely contributing but I do keep watch on coaster crazy.

I would like to add my 2 bits if I may with regard to the removal of the wild mouse.
it was an amazing ride, I have spent many a time on it and have a scar on my hip from it as well. its a shame it had to go however it did need to go. it was in a very sorry state and really needed a full rebuild from ground up. a steel wild mouse would not have the same impact in any way, the wilde mouse XXL and even the standard footprints are quite abit larger than it so fitting would be an issue and no where near a worthy replacement. im glad to have ridden it for so many years and im also happy to see the area itself get a future development.

I must stress these are my own opinions and not of the companies I work with at the moment.
Making screams come true

Ohhhh hello you're alive!

It wouldn't surprise me if they were planning on axing the ride next year or the year after (parks generally take 2-3 years to plan out a coaster), and then they found something horrible and just decided to get it over with now instead of having it SBNO. Shame though.

What a shame. Time for Knoebels to re-invent the wooden wild mouse <3
