Some time ago it was announced that the outdoor theme park area of Resort World Malaysia, known around town as one of the least desirable parks to visit, would undergo a massive transformation. Once a partnership with 20th Century Fox was announced, hope sprung that the new development might be top quality.

Now the partners have released more information, including the park's full name: 20th Century Fox World. Not very creative, but from what has been revealed it looks pretty interesting. Plus, unlike many new parks that are announced I'd say the odds of this one actually opening are extremely good - the Genting Group has many resorts and casinos around the world, and hence plenty of cash. They also developed Resort World Sentosa in Singapore, which includes a Universal Studios theme park.

Image

The outdoor theme park will cover some 25 acres, but it appears as though quite a bit will be packed into that small area. Plans call for $300 million
to be spent on new rides and attractions, including "media based rides, thrill rides, dark rides, to children?????????s rides and water rides." The layout above shows the entrance in the lower left - after that you can see the park's curved layout sprawl out. For a much larger version with great detail, click over to this Pinterest post.

Having the brands owned by 20th Century Fox behind the park will help bring a lot of popular movies to life. According to the official release, "rides and attractions based on Twentieth Century Fox blockbuster titles like ICE AGE, RIO, ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, PLANET OF THE APES and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM" will be included, with other properties to be announced later.

Above is concept art for a family roller coaster themed to Ice Age - while probably a Wild Mouse in reality it still looks like it could be neat. I'll be interested to see how Alien Vs. Predator works in a theme park! Night at the Museum sounds like a great dark ride premise if you ask me.

The current plans call for 20th Century Fox World to open to guests sometime in 2016.

Might aswell revive this topic but oh well. Construction has been progressing for a very long time. Looks like it's a late 2018 opening for this park. This is the parks master plan:

Image

Park progress as of January 2018

Image

It also looks like this park will have 4 roller coasters

1. This one is a dueling coaster where the coaster car rides above a road surface with the coaster track underneath, apparently themed to Sons of Anarchy.

Image

Image

Image

2. The second coaster is one that goes around a massive mountain, themed supposedly to Ice Age:

3. This looks like a Setpoint suspended coaster similar to Canopy Flyer at USS, themed to Rio: EDIT 25/02/2018, After further studying the master plan, will actually be themed to Blue Sky Studios in General, see post i made on this below:

4. ...and this just arrived the other day for a Dynamic Attractions SFX Coaster, could potentially be themed to Aliens vs Predators:

That Ice Age one looks pretty intriguing! Anyone know who's manufacturing it?

I think it's supposed to be Dynamic Attractions, but i can't be sure since the track style doesn't look recognisable.

Sorry to double post however...

... I was looking at the master plan recently and discovered something about the Setpoint Suspended coaster that's recently been installed in the park. I've seen alot of people (and even rcdb has it listed on this coasters page: https://rcdb.com/16001.htm) that it's going to be called Wings Over Rio and be themed to Rio. But from having a closer inspection on the master plan and seeing where all the rides are being located, i found out that is actually not going to be... and here's why.

20th Century Fox World.PNG

If you look at the master plan (which i edited in OpenOffice), you will see that Wings Over Rio is actually some kind of dark ride located around the back of the park, next to the lift hill of the Setpoint Coaster. Speaking of which, if you look very closely, you will see the coaster is laid out on the plans as a thick black line over most of zone 1 and 2, around the Blue Sky Carousel, Ellie's Mammoth Fun Zone and over the Sons of Anarchy Coaster. After looking at the lines pointing out what everything in the park is, i have discovered that the actual name of the Setpoint coaster is actually Blue Sky Gliding Co and is more themed to Blue Sky Studios in general.

Sorry of that, but i hope this is cleared up a few things about some of the attractions in the park and hope that this is actual name for the coaster and someone here can pass this onto rcdb about this. In the meantime, enjoy some recent construction images from the park:

I thought Setpoint had died long ago, I'm kind of stunned someone bought another one. Also don't apologize for double posts, it's nice to see pictures.

Don't worry it's perfectly fine. I just wanted to clear up something about the setpoint coaster and what it is actually going to be called.

Speaking of images here's another one:

There's also this image showing off the insides of the new indoor park also located at Gentings Highlands called Skytropolis:

I think started roller coasters as a side business and they were primarily like a warehouse or bridge company or something like that, so that's probably why,

We also have this video of the parks Zamperla Air Race testing (Which is apparently called Air Racer Flight Simulator, according to the masterplan):

Another update from the park:

Also, it seems like the SFX track hasn't been touched since it arrived in January. Hopefully we will start to see it go up very soon:

This place always surprises me and seems much larger than I expect it to be. It's like this odd Disney/Six Flags mashup, and then the Setpoint coaster exists for whatever reason as a zombie.
