The Points Are Increasing in Value!

Later tonight we will be rolling out the remaining features of the points system, this will also involve re-calculating all of the points based on site activity since 2003. For some of you who have been long time participating members, this operation will leave you very points rich. For the rest of you, well your probably going to need to participate in the community a little bit more. (You slacker.)

Answers:

A1: Yes, you can have a negative points balance. Yes, this is bad, and may result in public shaming.

A2: Points are deducted only once per track, including all revisions, and re-downloads.

A3: During the points recalculation process we are graciously ensuring that everyone will have at least 50 points in their account.

A4: While points have no monetary value, you will be able to use them towards the purchase of Coaster Crazy exclusive gear. (Shipping costs not included.)

A6: Yes, you may purchase additional points. At the Current Market Rate. Which will be determined tomorrow, after we run a super long query to figure out the points distribution.

A7: I'm sorry that you have been a member of this site for 8 years and only rated 1 of the 12,363 tracks you downloaded. 50 points is 50 points though.

A8: The Gift Shop may or may not offer the following items: thongs, new and used roller coaster parts, obscure theme park memorabilia, dart boards with donkeys on them, and travel vouchers to destinations that don't have any coasters.

The old site the points system was all messed up. They were nowhere near precise.

I know they were all sorts of messed up (180 billion points for coming in second on weekly upload?! Yay!) But I feel like the exchange rate between the two is somehow different, or the system isn't counting rates from the old site, etc.

Status Update
Retroactive Credits: Done, except for track comments. Check for several logs.
Retroactive Deductions: Done. This totally murdered over 1900 members
Points Floor: Done. Anyone with less than 50 or negative, has been brought up to 50 points. This is a one time courtesy

Earning Credits: Done, except for track comments and Twitter.
Download Costs: Done. Premium users and moderators exempt from the -1 point for downloads. Not sure about the rating requirement.

Deleted Tracks: Done. Deductions for the track, users who rated, awards, etc. Credits for anyone who downloaded. Only applicable if a moderator has to delete a track.
Delete Rating/Comment: Done, same amount points are deducted, that were originally given. You can delete your own, or a moderator may delete your posts for abuse.

Not Done Stuff
Comments: No points for comments yet. Need clarification from the boss man. Points will be given retroactively.
Twitter: Not implemented but will be given retroactively.
Premium/Moderators: Not sure about no-rating penalty.

Cool5, your points allocation was based on this data:

Tracks Downloaded: 3163
Ratings Issued: 5 (4 approve/3 disapprove)
Ratings / Downloads: 0%
Avg. Rating Issued: 8.81

So you lost a lot of your points because you did not rate any of the tracks you downloaded. This is some what balanced out by the number of forum posts you have.

However, you still have points but they are in your bank account. You will need to transfer them out of the bank, which will cause you to pay your points debt. Once that is done you should be left with a positive point balance.

Very nice job with this, I have no idea whether the point deduction for not rating counts for premium and mod.
It probably shouldn't, since when you pay for premium, you should get excluded from things like that.
And mods, should be the same way cause... just cause

i actually think the system its a little overwhelming but ok as y wish i think as i keep commenting track a already rated ( cus i delete them once i do it) and keep rating new tracks ill never run out of points.
