Evanescense isn't rock...

Nirvana isn't really rock either. Grunge... W/E they are good. Lots of followers.

I'm more into Metal/rock stuff.

Evanescence is more pop that rock, rock is more heavier.

I did like Nirvana, but i grew out of them. I mean i cant stand everyone else talking about them. The music was good back them, but everyone all of a sudden loves them now all of a sudden. I do actualy have a poster of Kurt in my room but thats been there ages... basicly what MoP said

I liked nirvana, WHEN I WAS 6! lol, now i'm into proper music,
\m/ DEATH METAL \m/ all the way. And evanescense is pop rock, which is probably like the worst type of music there is apart from garage.

You can call just about anything rock music. It is a very broad category. Whether you like Nirvana or not, you have to admit that they were incredibly influential and really changed the music scene, from punk to metal to pop rock. Just look at the difference between metal bands from the 80's and the mid-90's.
I think they are a great band, although I must admit I rarely listen to them anymore. These days, when all these "extreme" rock groups are so commercil and predictable, you really have to respect the way they went from the garage to the forefront of the music scene without totally selling out.
As for Evanescence, they don't really fit into any neat category. I'm not big on their "we're Christian but we won't admit it" lyrics, or their addition of the fashionable white rapper segments, but otherwise I think they have a pretty cool sound.

Imo rock music has got worse as time has progressed. Back in the 70' 80's We had the guitar legend's such as Hendrix, Clapton through to Guns n Roses and Metallica. It is rare these days to actualy hear a decent guitar solo on a track, and i do not count extended riff's in bands such as evanescence a solo. I mean there solo's dont even fit the music. All modern rock is a progression of power chords. If you strip the vocals from moist songs today, i could honestly could not tell a band apart, and the bands that annoy me so much are these lame ass bands such as Good Charlotte etc. Just so shite

I also feel that if it was not for Kurt Cobains 'suicide/murder' then Nirvana would not be half as popular. To me the original other 3 grunge groups surpass Nirvana (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains)

yea i like death mtal and metal but i cant really fel that music like its hard for me to tell a transiton between different keys of screaming thier vocal cords out, yea Evanescence doesnt fit into a catagory cleany like RC candy said. Nirvana DID change music comepletly during the 980s pop rock nirvana was in the unpopular back rocking grundge and punk untill it was popular enough to form a new style "punk rock" and the things Kurt said....man..so bliss

hmm now that ive checked, on my other comp it has like every single Nirvana track realeased (and yes that does include all the B-sides...Oh The Guilt, I hate myself i want to die etc) even downloaded Kurts last ever recording from somewhere. And contary to popular belief that was not 'You Know Your Right'

They may have not been popular in the UK, but they were HUGE here in the states, even before his death. Soundgarden and Alice in Chains were cool too. Pearl Jam was nothing more than grunge rock wannabes though. [:p]

I for one did like Nirvana when they came out but I agree w/ how many people started like Nirvana after the death of Kurt Cobain. I grew up w/ the seventies and the eighties so I like alot of music from that time era. It was a time when you heard vocals you could actually tell what was being spoken and played.

Personally I never really liked Nirvana. And I agree with Edge in that I can't stand these new "punk" bands like Good Charlotte, Blink 182, Sum 41, etc. But I also can't stand bands like The White Stripes, The Hives, The Vines, The Jets, etc. I don't know what style of rock they are but they suck...I should just called them "'THE' rock" lol.

yea modern rock is getting further away from what i would consider real music still you can fiund some good modern bands, its not like all new banmds suck you just have to get lucky. Korn and NiN are pretty good (ex NiN beena round a while.) other than that there arent many bands i like that hevent been around for more than 5 years

A lot of new music is great, you can find a lot of underground stuff (the REAL kind of rock/emo music, the stuff that I like) at http://www.purevolume.com/
Dead Poetic, Haste the Day, Thrice...they make some great stuff that is every bit as good as the old stuff.

Shame that everyone is so wrapped out in thier own dumbness to only moarn Kurt Cobains death. All these so called Nirvana fans which have sprung out in the last 2-3 years. I would have thought by this time they would have found the other 3 grunge bands, and would also realise the Layne Staley also died April 5th 2001. Shame that knowone else can see this, and are just going with the crowd.

RIP Layne & Kurt

Kurt aint rockin my world.
Rap and lyrics to it does. Everyone listens to their music depending on the way they were brought up. I'm into the English and Spanish rap scene. I'm by far not a gangster, but do associate with them because I have to around here. Anyone here besides me can talk Spanish fluently? I am tired of chatting all the time in English.
