who here thinks that the golden age of coasters is over, it seems like in 2000 we got MF, 2002 we got X, and wicked twister, and in 2003 we got TTD, i just dont see rides like this happening anymore for a long time, give me your thoughts on the subject

I think the Golden Age is over, the best coasters were all built in the 1920's through the 1940's.

I think they're getting worse...the earlier steelies had way more intense gs and were more wilder. Now they're getting tamer and more forceless, like TTD and MF.

well, people are still riding coasters...and places are still building coasters so i think the "age" is going on. But im not sure i'd call it the golden age.

I agree with IF, the best woodies are fromt eh 20s and 40s, and the best steel coasters, like the schwarzkopfs are no longer being made.

The golden age of coasters is by no means over...not at all. Because CCI went under, and there aren't really that many great woodies being built does not mean the golden age is over. As long as park attendance stays so high every year, there will be more and more coasters introduced. You have to look at the industry itself, not just the coasters.

The reasons that amusement parks have temporarily stalled in building coasters are: #1: trying to revover financial losses from 9/11 due to poor attendance. #2: still recovering from the coaster boom of 2000. #3: CCI went out of business and a good wooden company has not re-emerged quite yet. (just wait until the Gravity Group starts building coasters.) As soon as the war is over, tourism comes back to normal, a few years pass, and GG builds woodies, the golden age will come back. It is far from over.

The Golden Age of Coasters isn't over. But I wouldn't call it that right now. But I think in a few years, it will be back.

i def wouldnt say its over, mabey just paused. coasters are still being built as fast as they were 2 years ago. except the rides just arent as good. i think 2005 will be a big coaster building year. besides, all the parks wanted 2 get something new big and extreme for the millenium so, its normally a couple yeas before parks add coasters again, so i'm looking forward to 2005-2006. as for the best coasters being build in the 20's, i'd have to disagree with that. yes there were a lot of great rides. but rider saftey was not that much of a concern. lol, a good ride doesnt hurt! also, the rides from the 20's have had around 90 years to get old so they are naturally rougher because of time. just imagine how rough a cci woodie will be in 100 years!

I think the golden age of coasters is here right now, because look at all the new ride tpyes coming out, that are really advanced, and i think are nearly the limit of coaster engineering. I mean rides like 4D coasters, and flying coasters. I don't know how long this so called golden age will last but, I don't know how long people can keep coming up with these insanely advanced roller coasters.

a golden age is like whats happened through like 1999-2004, thats the best dates for coasters i think, alot of rides just happened and alot of big better faster taller funner rides came about, a golden age is when alot of good coasters are being built and new stuff and different stuff.

I said it'll come back, because they can't just forget about the good old rides. Also don't you think in the future people will start to get tired of tallest and fastests?

I think the golden age is now and will be there tomorrow. In an interview Werner Stengel said that in the future more and more coasters will become interactive. That means that you can do things during the ride like changing the position of your seat or the position of the car. There will be new kinds of 4D-coasters out there who are not that hard like X. Also thing like virtual reality will play a big role in the future.

I'm looking forward to see all these new ideas realized..... [8D]
