You won coaster992001?

Not by any means. I just think we aren't getting much of anywhere is all. The fact that I am tired of argueing with people that won't hear what I have to say in no way means you won. ;) ;)

Its all cool...I've yet to lose a debate over creation vs evolution to be honest, but when it comes to that its not me whose debating, its just facts and the such, so I wouldn't take credit for something like that.

errm, throwing facts back and fourth is debating.. so, in that sence, you are debating hehe.

.....can we just stop arguing and say i won just because i also have never lost an argument and i just cant do it. seriously, i feel like i didnt finish something if i dont finish an argument. so, can we agree that i won when in reality we agreed to stop arguing?

It's easy to be undefeated in debate if you never admit that you've lost.[lol] That goes for both of you.[;)]

In most debates, one side doesn't "win." It is the exact same thing as asserting you have "proven" your beliefs. The only way you can completely win a debate is if the other side says, "Gee, you know what? I was wrong and you were right all along." Obviously, most debates don't end this way.[xx(]

And about the saints...uh, I'm pretty sure that's just like a clergy "hall of fame" type thing...at least that is what I'll continue to think until I see one of these "miracles" on tape or with my own eyes. It's hard to believe that with all the horrible things going on in the world, every now and then God decides to show his mercy by making some nun heal like one child or something. I just don't think God works that way.

I concur, I also feel that if God wanted it to be this way, he should injure, sicken the bad people and heal and feed the truly honestly needy people. That's another realm of discussion. coaster992001, you didn't win. In essence you lost and so did night ride because neither of you got not one of the other opponents to accept your thoughts and beliefs. This is a draw. Try to mature a bit and understand that fact.

Really? I guess you've got quite a problem then! Why should I say you won? I don't care about the personal pride of winning. Honestly, this is a debate between your religion and mine, and mine which I wholeheartedly believe to be right has yet to lose a debate, and I will not condede "losing" to you when you havn't even come close to giving me anything worth even thinking twice about. I don't hold you responsible.....its hard to win a debate when your facts are incorrect. [;)]

lol, i do have a problem w/ debates.. hehe. however, i also belive in your religion, i'm a christian too. evolution is science, not religion. however, you are right, it is hard to win when all your facts are wrong. that's exactly why you shouldnt get your facts from a story book.

How are you a Christian when you say the Bible isn't correct? If your a Christian, then why do you have the exact same beliefs as athiests do? Calling the Bible a "story book" is not something any Christian does.

If you can disprove the "story book" then I'll believe you and I'll admit everything I said was wrong [;)]

all you need 2 do to e a christian is follow the teachings of christ. his teachings are in the gospels. the old testament has stories that probably never happened. i belive in the teachings of christ, not in all the stories, and therefore i am a christian [;)]. i'll belive in the stories if there is any evidence to back them up, but at the moment, the only evidence to a biblical story i can think of is how they prooved that the exodus actually happened.

As to humans being created out of a large eruption som billions of years ago. If you ever took Biology you would surely know that the cells that make up our body is more complex than anything else. Those complex organisms are very simular in every animal or plant. This leads to a common creator who knows what he is doing. Not some Beatnick that tells lies about how evolved from scum. Maybe you, but not ME.

To be a christian is NOT to only believe in what was said and written but to have a personal relationship with Christ. What you said is what alot of "religions" follow and it misses the entire and most important point and reason God sent His son...so we may live in relationship with Him.

Im amazed at the lax attitude of some people. How can you only believe in part of the stories? Most of what Jesus says (which is what you follow and believe as a christian as you stated) is taken directly from the Old Testament. Remember, there was no "Bible" in that time. All they had were the Old Testament teachings of the law.

On the Evolution note...I believe it occurs, to an extent. Its no mystery that things evolve or better yet, mutate and take new forms when genes mutate in the birthing process. But as was just said, I just find it far more improbable and impossible to believe that life was started by anything other than a divine Creator. The people who think we are crazy for having faith IMO are far crazier for believing and buying into any of the theories revolving around how the universe started.

It may have been a bad door to open (as far as starting the arguement again) but it was pretty funny to read anyway.

a topic about God is never a bad door to open TJ

I gotta say its sad to see so many people have lost belief in God. I dunno I think that most people see being Christian or whatever as being good all the time and going to church and being "religious". That stuff is good...if you have time lol. Its also sad to see so many people have decided not to look further into it before they reject Him.

lol I know you're not a Christian anymore, but just to clarify the argument there...

The Bible isn't a history text. It does have historically correct events told from the point of the four Gosepels, but as far as things like Adam and Eve, they're just stories to describe certain aspects of Christianity. Adam and Eve, for example, I don't think they really existed and that the garden of Eden or Eve or w/e it is really existed, but I can see that its a way to tell in simple terms how humanity came into existence.

Id like to clarify on one thing:

I find that many times Christians wage war on each other based on what they fully believe in the Bible. Most will say that they completely believe in the New Testament which is needed. However, I find that the Old Testament sometimes serves as battle grounds for Christians to pit themselves against others.

I am a believer in all of the Bible but never will I let my belief of one part seperate me from another believer. (This is why I hate denominations) Personally, the only parts which I believe there would be room for interpretation as far as REAL events occur is from creation to adam and eve. I do believe that creation happened like was said and I do believe adam and eve existed but I do believe that alot of other details are missing - but for a purpose. The purpose is that it doesnt matter. If you believe it happened exactly like that to a tee or not, doesnt matter to your salvation nor does it affect the rest of the Bible. As a christian you should believe in creation along with adam and eve but far too many times it gets blown out of proportion.

But much of the New Testament is history, if not all. Jesus refers back to the OT nearly all of the time He teaches. Why? Thats what He was taught, thats what He read. All of what He came to do and in essense, to re-write the OT, came from the OT. So if you believe the NT and all that Jesus says, you must, by default, believe in the OT just as much since all that He taught was based on that of OT. Not to mention all of the prophesies that he fullfilled from the OT - of which he notes.

Smer, you of all people ought to know where this could go ... however, you cannot pick and choose which portions you "believe in". It is is either all true, or all false. As many biblical scholars have said, "Either Jesus Christ is Lord of all - or not Lord at all." Therefore, either it is all true, or all false ... there is no middle ground. So, since it is written that sin entered into man through Adam and Eve, Jesus had to come later to save all. Otherwise, there was NO need for a Savior since we were made in God's image, we would then have been perfect - as God has no sin. But, due to sin, we needed that Savior, hence Jesus had to come. They are all inter-related, and again, either it is all true or all false.

Now, why can I say this writing has to be true with such conviction?

Why is there wood on the top of Mt Ararat, exactly where it is written that God placed the Ark? Too many coincidences my friend, too many. Therefore, since the flood is written as Genesis Chapter 8 ... why should Genesis Chapter 2 (creation) all of a sudden be classifed as:

hmmm....i don't believe in god or whatsoever....mainly because it's very very very very very very very very unlikely that an old man on a cloud created all this....

but must say, i hear disbelievers say
"if there is a heaven why has no-one ever returned?"

and then when someone tells them "i went to heaven and got back" they think he's a wacko....

1. The Bible mentions nothing about reincarnation except for the second coming of Christ during the rapture. We can assume that people do not return from heaven.

2. Unless they died and were brought back to life, they didn't.
