What's the deal with Points?

I'm confused about this point thing... I have private messages but I can't reply because I have no points? The person I have a private message from only has 2 more posts than I do, yet they have 100 points and I have 0? I'm totally confused, how the heck do I answer people's questions about NoLimits and/or my tools if I can't reply because I have no points? Could someone help me out here??

Thanks bockzilla, I really appreciate it. I don't get why I had no points even after the 20 some-odd posts I had made. I don't think I've done anything that would have cost all those points I should have... if it's 5 per post I should have had just over 100 points, but I had 0. Could anybody clue me in on what I'm doing that's costing me these points I should have had?

You shouldn't have had any points. All the posts made before the web site changed, and the points system came in, don't count for anything, which is a bit silly I think, but hey

tia, were those post before the site update. if they were then they did not count towards your points. only new posts since the site update get awarded points.

Ahhh, okay... that must be it. Makes sense. Uhg, points... *sigh* whatever...

Although the points system may not appeal to some of the older members, it is obviously appealing to the younger generation as you can see by the majour increase in activity and posts recently.

Too bad all the extra posts are just asking what the &^@# is up with the points system...[flush][lol]

Haha, I like the system, I want points to change my title to
"HR-God"! [pshades]. ha my ego stinks, j/k. But I am one of the few still using it...and i got a few medals...and one of my designs is rated THIRD on this site. [shocked]

Actualy its not. It stops newbies for sending PM's randomly all over the place and also makes sure your a more active user. Plus it only costs 1 point to send a PM and you got 5 points for the above post

you wouldn't believe the amount of complaints I get from people getting harrasing pm's from newbies just coming to ruin the fun. So from an administrative point of view, it's not stupid.

The Points system is OK. But i think you should get some points for rating tracks. I try to put an honor in rating every track I have downloaded and think I deserve some points for the work I put into my reviews.

If you read other topics here, you would have learned that this is somethign that will be implemented once I get the time. And right know I don't have the time to do it so just chill back and hang around. Enjoy the atmosphere. As for the latter, if we had not had added a points system, would you feel the same? I am tired of peopel wanting me to do this or that when they don't understand how busy I am. People don't understand how expensive this site is, people don't understand the other costs assosiated with running this site the way we do. Much less you don't understand how we feel hearing people are not satisfied with our efforts. Something we provide to the members here for free.

I think the main problem is ignorance. IF people HAD read the topics, they would have learned that you are stressed for time and will implement the features when you have the time. As for me, im content with this and will remain content with the current site. When you are able to, ill be even more content [;)].

if points are put into the exchange, it'll just cause more arguements about how many points you should get for rating/uploading etc etc etc. personly, i think the points are fine how they are now, if they move to the track-exchange, then people will want points for articles, then for editing their profile... then they'll want points for using points...

I like the point system right now, I think it is good because it gives people a chance to have their own custom avatar, title, etc.

I didn't mean to sound that negative. I did comment on the new layout in another thread where i really gave the new layout a big thumbs up. I really like your site and very much appreciate the work you put into it.
