For those who are interested in music, or play music and might care, I got a new snare drum today.

Here are some pics:

It's a Tama Lars Ulrich Signature snare. It is extremely loud, I love it.

If it sounds anything like Lars' snare on their St. Anger record, why not just have a trashcan instead?

But really, I'm sure it's good and stuff. Nice set.

If Lars had put a ring around the inside of his top head on the St Anger CD, that "pang" kind of ringing sound would be gone.

This drum, though I probably have it tuned differently, should sound exactly like Lars' snare from Load, Reload, S&M and St Anger.

Nope, I don't have a hole in it. Never played anywhere requiring a microphone so never bothered.

Cut a hole!?! you crazy? I know there are head with holes in them but cutting a hole? wouldn't that kill the tension on the head and make it gross sounding? I know its the front head but still. When I mic my drums I find it easier to lay a blanket or sheet over the bd and the mic, that way theres no interference and it just sounds nicer.

For the Bass Drum resonant head, I don't have a problem with a hole cut in it. Lots of drummers go without any resonant heads at all.

I dunno, almost every live band has a hole in their resonant heads on their bass drums.

yeah but those are special heads, the holes have stripping around them. Remo's website is being updated so I can't find a pic of one.
