Official Medal Count

It has been nearly a year since there has been an official tally of the medals, so I am proud to bring them back. Here returns the tally of all medals earned in WWS.com's 1.5 year history. (Alot has changed since last October, so prepare to be shocked...)

This is the official tally of all medals that have ever been awarded on WWS.com/CC.com since the weekly competitions began in March 2003. This total also includes the winners of contests. Hopefully, your name will appear on the list soon! If you do not have at least 3 medals, your name will not appear on this list until you do. Keep working on those coasters...

Well, it's that time again... time for the monthly medal count update. October has been a month of 'ol classic designers. 8 new medal winners have emerged this month, but most of the medals were awarded to previous members. DE@NO and Skittlz dominated the RCT2 medals, while Dirk Ermen was the biggest NoLimits winner. Skittlz and cjd have taken over Tycoonman and Modelmaker's spots in the top 10, with another medal for Bobcoaster thrown in the mix. Also, we have three new members who have earned their places in the list with their third medals... e-man, jpecool, and metalhead10830, welcome to the list. Well, that's all for this month. Check back as soon as the medals for November are awarded, and keep those awesome coasters coming!

It is great to have the medal count back. It has been such a long time. I would like to say it is nice to see I am not on the list even though I have the following medal count: Contest: 1, Gold: 1, Silver: 1, Bronze: 2

Not that I am complaining or anything, just correcting an error. Congratulations to all medal winners!

i've checked my score and it's allright, thanks for bringing back the medal counts [:D][:)]

And don't forget... it's not over yet. Within the next week, I will be posting part 2 of the medal count... and here are the details. I will be breaking the list up into each respective SIM, so that there will no longer be any complaints about "but it's easier to get a medal on so many of the other sims, that's not fair"... and also, I will take those lists of medals, and every member that has won at least three medals will recieve a "designer rating" from 0.5 - 10.0, which will be judged soley on the quality of the designer's tracks, and then will be compiled for a new top ten list. (it's going to take forever, but I spent 30 straight hours in front of my computer working on the awards archives and medal list 1, so this should be a day at the beach comparatively.) So, check back in a few days, and look for "Official Medal Count part 2: Designers Elite".

By the way, WWS, can I have my VIP status back now that I'm not a slacker anymore? [;)]

my crappy uploading patterns have caused me to drop from 2nd all the way down to 13th. (well, I guess that's what happens when you don't get any medals for 11 months straight.) Oh, well. I hope my new AdrenaLand project will get me back into the mix.

That all sounds very promising cjd, many thanks for updating the lists and I am looking forward to see the per sim lists.

yipee! oh, and by the way, I have been working on the per sim lists as much as I can, but even after 12 hours, I still have yet to complete No Limits. Apparently, I am looking at a bigger project than I originally anticipated, so they will be posted a few days after Labor Day. (I have to help my mom get her patio furniture in so it won't get destroyed by hurricane Frances.) All I can say so far is that the current leaders in NL are Bobcoaster for numbers (10 medals), and the quality leader is Hansixx, with a designer rating of 9.27 out of 10. Want more? stay tuned, as part 2 is under construction.

by the way, thanks Gouldy for coming up with the per sim idea. (see "site related" page 14)

how does the designer rating get calculated ??

basically, starting with your first medal-winning track in the given sim, (I didn't want to penalize anyone for their inevitebly low-scored original tracks), every single track you have uploaded to the exchange is averaged. That's your designer rating. By the way, DE@NO, yours is 7.81 / 10.

The whole point of this new take on the medal count is that the people who put alot of work into their coasters will finally get their fair share of the credit. You have won alot of medals, DE@NO, but you post so many that most of them are "just good enough to win a medal", so naturally you probably won't fare too well in the "designers elite" medal count, but we still praise you for having so many medals.

What brings me down is my one and only NL upload of "corkscrew" scoring a measly 5.17(being my first NL attempt it was never going to be a high contender) and my rct2 creation asteroid scoring just under 7. Apart from that Ive scored quite high.

There's also some tracks that havent been rated. Do they count against the designer elite score ???

non-rated tracks DO count against you, counting as "0"'s. But your No Limits track does not count against you, since this is per sim. After all, just because you are good at one sim does not meen that you are good at any other sim. Therefore, your designer rating for each sim will count to the overall list separately for each simulator you have won 3 medals in. It's complicated, but that's why it's taking me so long.

Why do the non-rated count aginst us. W e cant relly help it if noone cares to give us their feedback. On the other hand, thanks alot for bringing back the medal count and doing all this for the site.

if it was a really good track, than people would have rated it. Once you have won a weekly medal, there is no excuse for your coasters not getting rated... you have already proven that you have the skill to make a great track. The only exception to this rule would be if the track had 0 downloads.

Well, what about tracks that are corrupted? People downloaded, but the file was accidently empty. :-/

Then you should talk to the staff and get them to delete the file.
