I am semi lookibng forward to this update but my main problem with NL is that although the trains and the track do look realistic, I would have liked to see the walkways and supports get more attention or at least an option to have them properly modeld(I.E SM). I dont really
care for the shuttle mode(backward forwards forwards backwards) can get a bit boring, I would have preferd to see some of the newer style
coasters been put in. When the new update was announced I pounced on The Edge for some of his comments But I have now come round to his way of thinking!. Anyway 1 week and a half to go so we will see when the update comes out, Oh and for all you Mac owners whinging about your version coming out 2 weeks later don't forget you are already up a version on the PC owners.

Yeah, good point.

Anyways, I wonder what else will be in it? I'm still really worried about some cars at super-high detail and some at super-low detail. Ok, maybe not super-low, but not as high detailed I mean.

There really isnt much need for the curse words, i'd suggest you remove them

You have no idea how ticked off I am about wasting my $$$ on that "game". Oh well, I removed them just for you.

I think the main thing many of you guys (no one in particular though) is that the game was thrown together in the beginning. Ole made it for himself...He used it for his own pleasure for a little bit then with some persuasion, decided to touch it up and release it.

Now considering that its coded by one person and modeled by another, it is still awesome. The problem with NL (that should be fixed in NL2 should it be started and completed) is that the coding engine was made without much upgrading in mind. Ole had no clue it would become such a hit. I dont know the exact figures, but the man makes his entire living off the game and it only SELLS ONLINE! It cant be doing bad.

But where the game does flaw is that updates take a long time because the engine is in poor condition. The new meshing part of the game is probably one of those features hes implementing early for NL2. Apparently it takes alot of re-coding to get things to work in the game and especially to add new styles. It isnt I should say hard, it just takes way longer than it should.

NL2 (again, should it ever become a reality) has been said to be a COMPLETE overhaul. Im sure hell code the engine so upgrades are a breeze and things can be changed and edited easily. As it is now, I just assume the code is messy. Which come on, the original (and we are still on the original) engine and code was made for him. It wasnt made to run on all different computers and for thousands of people.

The word Ive heard is that 1.5 will be THE LAST update (aside from just maybe new styles here and there if they get modeled) but this should be the last update before they decided to do an NL2 if they so choose. IMO it would be the right time because Ole has shown that hes come a long way since those first versions and I believe him and his team are ready to take on a whole new engine and system. That will probably be awhile, BUT, I think part of the plans with 1.3 and 1.5 was to make new trains and designs so up to date that they will only need minor changes so they will be 2.0 ready and wont need to be overhauled.

Umm the 1.3 update fixed nearly nada, and featured nothing new, well except that AWSOME vertex panel, wow thats a real bonus [:p]. Plus we miss out on all of the tools except for the calculator, and now we get the update 2 weeks later. Put it this way, its like you having the update the day that Ole's homepage was updated on the 13th, and us mac users getting it when you will recieve it, at the end of September. Ya two weeks aint alot, I just figured that even after us mac users not getting half the stuff you pc users do, they could AT least release the updates at the same time. I could care less if I had a pc, and they decided to wait and release the update for both platforms at the same time. Well I think I have given my two cents.

you also have to remember that most of those tools are 'after market' tools. So its not really Ole's fault that MAC users don't have quite as much to work with.
Or I could be completly wrong with what I said above :D

Nope you are right. Most of the tools were not made by the dev team. And even the ones that were made by Tia, she has no mac. Therefore, she cannot code it into a mac version. Shes offered to port the tools over, but someones gotta buy her a mac first. Ole cant do it since its Tia's code but yea...anything made by Buster or Tia I dont believe has or will be ported UNLESS someone (like RiscIt) ports it themselves.

This is going to be a very cool update, but I think that there are other things that need to be improved more than what the NL team focused on the most. The sounds are pretty bad, like the steel lift sounds, but the most important IMO is the B&M sound. There isnt a roar like on real B&Ms, which if put into the game would make riding B&M coasters feel a LOT more realistic. Also, the wooden supports are way too thick, they're the wrong shape, and the wooden support "boxes" generated by the auto supports are 3 or 4 square feet too large I believe.

Yeah, that's my point. But it's more than just the B&M's. All the sounds are way off. Listen to the wooden sound. But the woodie chain lift is excellent. But it seemed to matched the Raptor's sounds rather than a woodie.

Anyways, I really hope it's easier to smooth. For me, 1 verticy added means 1 added bump to the ride. Why did they limit the smoothing to the masters? I can't even make a turn without a bump or anything.

Anyways, I hope they fix the physics. What I mean is what people say when they try to recreate MF. That longer trains need more momentum. This is also important for me because my ride loses alot of pacing near the end, lol.
