As most people will know, Alton Towers are adding to there collection of coasters, with a new Intamin launched coaster. It was said that the acceleration was going to be 0 - 100kph in 2.8 seconds. Now, it has been apparently changed to 0 - 100 in 2.1 seconds!!! I found this on Towerstimes and it has apparently been confirmed! What do you all think. This will hopefully make the ride even better than i believe it is going to be. AND, as said on Towers times, this will make it have around the same sort of acceleration as TTD, although only reaching around half the speed!

Though .7 s is significant when measuring it, you probably wouldn't feel a big difference between the two.

this has been posted in the RITA convo. in the coaster news forum as dirk linked to (http://www.coastercrazy.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6321). So posting anything here would be pointless *needs locked

I believe Storm Runner reaches 3.5 accel G's, and TTD must get up there on the list, so it doesn't sound to great.

Storm Runner does not hit 3.5 g's, it hit about 2, and TTD is in the 1.5-2 range, cant recall exact.

I am gonna have to question you on that e-man. I am pretty sure it does, even if its only for a split second.

of storm runner hits about 2 acceleration g's.. how many g's does dodonpa have? and then a more important question: why does everyone take off points if you have over 1.5 acceleration g's in the trach exchange?

Dodonpa has 2.1 I believe it is, and people who rate down for 1.5 a g's are probably merely misinformed, and to BrtnBoarder, bring on the questioning.[8D]

62mph. Its easier to use 100kph as it is alot easier to work out in SI units.

ya know , being on Top Thrill Dragster and Millenium Force makes 62 mph seem dinky. (unless its full of inversions [:P])

There are new photos of the RITA construction which can be found at
http://ugland.myphotoalbum.com/view_alb ... evelopment

Also, i found this on TowersTimes, that RITA would have a inclined launch much more inclined than your normal rocket coaster like Xcellerator. This launch will be inclined similar to the hulk at Universal:IOA!
You can find this here:
http://www.towerstimesforum.co.uk/viewt ... 191964805c

I believe this as Tiger2000 has stated this and he is the one that has provided all the photos and useful construction info!

sorry i was wrong with my post above! It will not be like the hulk, it will just be more inclined than a launch like the one on TTD. Only slightly though.

Also:
After seeing some more pictures of the launch being built on ATA which can be found here: http://www.towersalmanac.com/features/r ... 17/03.html
The ride looks pretty good so far. If you then click on "Construction Site December 2004" which can be found above the photo, you will then go onto the index of RITA construction photos with some gooid ones showing track in place.
The page shows some footers and the ride does look quite large. Dan on TowersTimes has told that the ride has been confirmed with a large airtime hill before the turn before the station and a small tunnel somewhere. Also by the photos you can see it will have some large overbanked turns, and the launch heads towards a very large building, which is bigger than is needed for just hydraulics, which makes me think you may blast through the building! Maybe this building could be a shop/cafe. I do believe now this ride will be good, NOT on a par with Nemmy, but it will be good. Hopefully. lol.
