I have finally started on my recreation of S:ROS @Darien Lake. I am going to make it as acurate as possible (as accurate as I can get with the availible date/pictures).
I am recreating this ride not only because it was my first coaster over 200' but after tons and tons of rides on it, it never gets boring. It is always a blast to ride.

So far I have completed track construction up to the second helix.
I will post some screenshots tommorow.

Oh, if anyone by any chance has the diameter of either of the helix or hieghts of the camel back hills they would be greatly appreciated. Points will be given if anyone can find out (with enough proof of course). And anyone who has any good pictures of the coaster, other than the ones that are on RCDB would also be greatly appreciated.

I am also planning on recreating the station. Though I will have to learn how to make it first haha. If anyone is good with 3ds making and wants to volunteer making it, feel free to volunteer (points will be given).

Alright here are some new screenshots!

However, I was unhappy with the distance between some elements when compared to the real ride, so there will be some differences between these pictures and the actual ride that will be released (these are just to show progress of the project)

Image

One of the areas I was not happy with

Image

Both camel backs. (They are being reshaped)

Image

The second helix

Image

The 's' hill thing

And there is only 2 bunny hops after the s hill so I didn't bother taking any screenshots.

The track construction is complete now (though there is still 2 minor things I need to fix).
And yeah, I could use some testers, leave your email and I'll email it to you.

I love this ride, it's so simple, yet I've heard its a very good ride.

I'm just a little too busy with the holidays and I'm not even at my own house right now so it is a little hard to actually get some productive work done on it.
But I do re-assure you that when I do go back to Canada (I'm in Denver right now) I will work on this project and finish it.

Update, May 7th - 3 Pictures Added - http://nldc.interfix.net/p206
It is time to bring this project back from the dead. I have started working on this project once again and have completed all the way up to the first camel back hill.
I am considering re-working the hill because the pull-up and the lead-out sections look like they don't quite rotate enough when compared to the real deal.

Anyways, I'm quite happy that my other project (Project Q) is coming to an end and I can finally get this one completed!

Update, May 9th - 8 new pictures added - http://nldc.interfix.net/p206
Construction has been finished up to the non-inverting corkscrew hill thing.
I have decided not to heart line the track at all because I do not think the Intamin Superman hyper's have any heart lining. Well, very little anyways. The entrance to the helices and to the first turn at the bottom of the first drop only give about .1 lateral g's, so I am safe without heart lining the track.
Recreating this track has really given me an urge to go take the two hour drive to Buffalo and ride this beast. It hauls ass over that third hill like a bat out of hell.
Anyways, construction is progressing very well and I have encountered no problems or setbacks yet. Hopefully by the end of this week I will have the track construction will be completed so that I can move onto doing the terraforming.

More information and screenshots can be found here - http://nldc.interfix.net/p206

Lookin good. I have only seen pics of the real ride, but it looks pretty accurate. For some reason, to me this coaster (the real coaster) just always appeared to be kinda ugly - no real form to it. IDK maybe it is just me.

Looks pretty good so far. The steepness of the hills really needs work though, I've ridden SROS many times since SFDL is my home park (well, my closest major park), and I think the first camelback is about 55 degrees or so. The first drop also looks a bit small for some reason, I don't know how steep it is on your recreation, but its 68 degrees in real life.

Besides that it looks pretty cool. I'm looking forward to it.

^Yeah, I think I need to make the incline slightly higher. Right now I have the incline set to 48 degrees with the top of the first camelback hill at about 143 feet high. I think I am going to change the incline to 53-55 degrees and make the hill about 7-10 feet taller.
The first drop is about 204.56 feet with a vertical angle of about 67.977. So its about as close as I'm going to get to the actual ride [lol]
