First, let it be known that I don't care about my rating. In fact, my first coaster uploaded to this site will now be my last.

I thought this was comical. My coaster, "Raging Bandit", had this left as a comment:

2. How come the lift hill had that straight section at the top? If you just let the coast drop down immediatly after the lift there would be less strain on the chain lift and it would be alot more exciting.

Had anyone bothered to research the coaster it was based on, they would have seen that the top of my lift hill is just like THE ACTUAL COASTER!

Bandit. Yomiuriland. Japan. Look it up.

Laughable, I tell ya!

Let me add, I am not posting this to get my ratings deleted. Like I said, I don't care. I just want to point out the irony in some of my ratings.

So, like, ummm ... which coaster are you remotely referring to that you loaded? How about a link? Because last time I checked no one here was gifted enough to read your mind ...

Mr. Conwell, did you even bother to READ what I WROTE on my track page? Obviously, you did not - because if you did, you would have read this:

This track was inspired by two coasters: the Bandit [Yomiuriland, Japan] and Raging Bull [Six Flags Great America, Chicago].

FYI, here are some pics of Bandit:

Listen up bozo -- what the heck are you talking about? What ride are you pissed about the rating you received? Where is the link to the ride YOU POSTED that you are venting about?

You provided no link to that ride file you posted that has got your panties in a wad, so NO ONE (let me be clear -- NOT ONE FREAKING PERSON HERE) knows what you are referring to. It is a big file exchange here at WWS and no one wants to go sifting through it to find your file. I do not care one single bit about what ride you designed yours after, but I care more about where the ride is posted that you are pissed about so others here can see if they can help you out.

Geesh, are you always this absent-minded or do you have to work at it?

EDIT: I found the track you are talking about and will rate it tonight, but you being mad about the "straight piece" comment or not, I think DJ was probably very fair in his rating knowing how he rates. Nevertheless, I shall rate it for you too and then you will have a few folks who know how to rate trying to help you. I will say, though, based on the screen shot alone - this ride looks very linear and simply made without a bunch of winding through itself, as the picture links you gave above demonstrate.

The title of my post said 'Part Two'. I assumed that the people posting here kept up with all the threads, and that they would remember my first post. My mistake.

But, anyway, getting back to what I was talking about. I just feel that a lot of the criticism here on WWS is not constructive. Instead of just ripping apart the coasters, why not add a positive note or some feature that you liked every time you submit a rating? I'm certainly not trying to force anyone to change their methods; but you gotta think - most everyone who posts a track on WWS worked hard on it and did the best to his or her ability, only to have some 'pro' slam it and rip it apart. It's sad. This computer program is about having fun and being creative.

I debated about posting a track for months before I finally did it, because I was certain it would get crapped on. So I eventually posted a coaster, and, well, yeah... it basically got crapped on.

I'm open to positive discussion, no name-calling please.

Sorry, i dont know whether this is entirely relevant, but you posted Bandit as a realistic coaster. If you wanted it rated partly as a recreation, you should've put it down as a recreation, or linked to photos of the actual coaster(s). That way, people know that they're not looking at your idea, but one that you have used and adapted from somewhere else. Thats probably why you got the critisism you did.

Just my two cents

Because your never going to improve your design technique if someone just says 'it was good'

^ Edge said it all ... but let me give you one small word of advice here. Some thicker skin is needed on the exchange, especially when you have some of the folks around here rate. Comments should NEVER be taken personal in the rates. It is not a personal attack, but comments regarding a track file which is worth no more than the memory it takes up. Take a look at my title, itr is says Ratings Realist which means I am going to be real and honest with you. Others however, who are 100 times more skilled than I, may absolutely destroy your ride to show you where you need to improve. Take it as constructive and press on to making a better one next time. Take it from me, the only way to improve in this (or anything really) is to have someone give you guidance - and here you will get exactly that. When coasters are really great, folks say it, but when they stink ... well ... you get what pay for.

Sorry about the "bozo" thing ... that was personal. [lol]

Sorry Mr. Minderaser person...but your ride really isn't that good, hardly even deserving of a five. If you're going to go and cry whenever people give you constructive critisism then you probably don't want to be here.

-jen

edit: If if it is just critisism - correct your mistakes and you won't get it.

Look, everyone. This topic is going nowhere. Designers, quit taking everything so personally... the people here are just rating your coasters and trying to give you tips to improve them. Raters, I know you are probably tired of newb coasters, but try to be patient and tell them nicely what they need to improve on without attacking their lack of experience. Enough said.
