I just noticed now, Don't you think that we should be able to pick from a veriety of stations and not have to use 3DS? so that all the station fuctions work? Such as these stations which were in the SS's for NL1.5

actcually, i think they just used some 3d objects to give a sweet look to the pictures. But it would defenatly be sweet if we could choose out of different stations. [:)]

The Vekoma Motorbike one is just retextured. Using Tias environment editor you can change the textures on a station, but Phyters one is 3d. I like the idea :)

Yeah, Id really like this feature added in. Also, the current stations need more polygon detail. Sick of the paperlike railings.

yeah i agree, but it should be a turn on/ turn off object for those people with sucky computers like myself. I have problems with the Intamin coasters already, and better stations would just screw over my computer. Also considering NL is my only computer game, im not buying a video card just for NL, cause i know someone will say that[;)]

Actually I dont mind the stations now but I wish more detail was put into it. I wish there were more controls with the control panel. Maybe have the buttons not look like a remote and maybe actually move. It would be cool to have a ride-op mode where there are actually people and if the g's go into the reds they all pass out. Too bad...

^that'd be boring tho, you are basically a ride-op now. click restraints and gates on and off, and emergency stops and stuff.

First of all, the NL team should really be taking advantage of progressive meshing. That not only means super detailed stations, it also means non-paperlike catwalks as well as trees that are 3d. Maybe they should make it 2 seperate options?

Either way, they really need to balance the graphics of the game. There's alot of cleaning to do, if only I could help by being one of their "janitors".

Things will come in time. The technology is new and Im sure well see something crazy branch off on whatever version we may see next, if we see another one at all. I believe Ole addressed the catwalk issue once already as well as something else.

As for the need for different stations, Eh. Its not a huge thing on my list. I can think of many other things Id rather see changed. If you want to change the station as is now, either make or get someone to make a 3ds station or, do some texturing and slap em on the existing one. Itll sure as heck be bonus points considering how few people do it.

The problem is that custom stations take too much time and are rather tedious.

yeah, i have no 3D skills at all but I'd love something different from the plain station with paper thing roof and fence. At the least they should do some more work on the one station, like add a ramp to the ground, on both sides, and maybe some objects like a sign or something. I think an Op mode would be awsome, I waste so much time just being an Op and seeing people or at least haveing more control features would be awsome.

and I don't know how to appropriately size the station's lenght, and same with the cut-out for the track, maybe if some one posts a tutorial on how to do that.*winks a bazillion time*

Station lengths should be automated IMO, that way, they can decorate teh station as much as they want, maybe even do what HR did to theirs. I really liked HR's stations. Oh, and one annoying thing of NL's stations is that the safety lanes never line up half of the time, even if you use the coaster calculator. If you have the time (or skill), you might be able to line up the safety lanes in a custom station, lol.

I guess it's better to make and place in the 3ds station first, then do the track. But I just completed my track.

Oh, one time, I tried using supports for the safety lanes, by entering test mode, then placing in the nodes. If only we could pause on the test mode though...

For now, I'll probably just use the env editor to make a station. All I need is a building black inside and out.

The queue rails are imo a detail that should be overlooked. Your ride is about the ride, not about how the queue rails line up. Its a known fact that they dont line up properly so I would suggest to drop it.

I myself have gotten away from that. Its all really supposed to be a moot point when compared to the track and supports and rest of the ride. If you do put some time into it, kudos to you. But really, to me it doesnt make or break a ride.

If they ever add in a park explore mode (add in roads, queues, muiltiple coasters per scene, etc), then lining up the safety lanes will be essential. How will you get on a coaster seat if it's closest safety lane takes you to the hood?

Do you think they would ever impliment such a feature without fixing those things though? ;) They are coaster enthusiasts like ourselves, all of them with with a nitch for being perfectionists. You guys assume they are amatuers.

But I felt the park roaming thing in HR was a gimick. Especially without anything other than the rides, I can just position myself with the camera in a similar spot. Its hard to recreate what the human eye can see since most views dont factor in the important peripheral vision and if you do, then the only way is by warping stuff. Its really tricky and I have yet to see it done properly without having the need for around 5 monitors. ;)

Me? No. I was just suggesting ideas that I'd really like to see.

my only thing that i want to see implemented is a "reverse-split" function. If its possible to split a segment into 2, then it should be the same to combine. this would have limits ofcouse, because some wouldnt be possible, but it def. would be if you were to have it enabled on that control point after you split it.

@ Shortkid:

That function has been around, just not in the editor itself.

Make sure you read the readme completely. Its a small hassle but I use it daily for many applications.

I wonder how it works though. Say you have complete circle made up of 2 segments. How would it combine them?

well, I think it would be cool if NL had split stations like Storm Runner, it would also be cool if they had it where you can have multiple tracks so it would be better to make dueling tracks.
as for station, I don't think there is a any need for a new station, unless your actually going to put in a theme for your ride, and make it disney-like. I personally would like to go the extra mile and make a really good themed ride. And make that already perfect ride a bazillion times better. I think a simulator is like real life. I personally would rather see a themed ride placed in, then a ride just placed on a parking lot, like what Real seems to be leaning towards now. It lets you use your imagination more, and it satisfies your riders more. You can have that really awsome, perfectly built ride, but if you want to make it better, you should add theming.[^] And not this crap, lets put a station custom here, but an actual theme, otherwise, just stick to your standard stuff.
