i just think the bible should never be brought into a serious debate / argument / discussion. unless of course your talking specifically about the bible.
Why?
Personally, I dont feel a strong pull to put my faith in other people, scientists or people of that nature. Humans are full of errors and so is everything we touch. I feel safer not putting my life in the hands of another human personally. Why trust in something thats anything but perfect?
So Ill celebrate the real meaning of the day. Obviously it was created with that purpose, but now its been watered down by society and media as an all purpose general holiday. Whatever, we cant control that. Infact, we can only help one life at a time.
So I hope everyone had a good christmas. Maybe some of you reflected on good times, others maybe reflected on what the day stands for. Whatever the case, Hopefully it was enjoyed and certainly not wasted.
And while Im at it Ill stoke the fire some:
yeah Tconwell does a good job summing this up. According to my pastor the Christian/Muslim/Jew all believe in the same god, they just end at differen't points in history in there book.
Well, I wouldnt exactly say that. They all believe in a central God, but I wouldnt say my God is similar to that of muslim or Jews. For one, I dont know much of Muslim so I wont say much there. I dont want to base what I know on media. But I do know alot about the Jewish faith and knowing that they dont believe Jesus was also God, then my God isnt the same as theirs. God also used Jesus to bring Him closer to me, not farther away. The Jewish seem to hold God away at arms length, like hes too Holy to know personally. Hence why real Jews dont ever say or write out God. They will write it G-d because they believe even the name is too holy. While thats a good thing, knowing how holy He is, the difference is that they dont accept Jesus as their God who came to sever those very bonds and traditions and ultimatly, to make it a one on one relationship free of many of the rules and standards that were set in the pre-Jesus time.
Oddly enough though, its written that the Jews will come back and will propser again. But that totally follows history. Countless times they faded from God only to come back again. They had a chance with Jesus but chose to overlook the personal power that God gave them and instead believe that God will send their messiah in the form of a military power, someone strong who will free their nation. Sadly, Jesus was that man for those people. But, like they did the past, they will at some point realize and get back what God wanted to give them. Just more examples of the forgiveness. Because really, if they can backslide as many times as they have and still be forgiven, I dont think anyone on earth can come close to them :-p
Ok Im done, heh.
