Because they care about making money more than making an excellent film.

Also, to add a few more to my list....

-Fargo...can't believe I forgot that before
-Rear Window - another that I can't believe I forgot to list. Maybe the best of Hitchcock's films, IMO
-Star Wars and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

And some more honorable mentions for me....
-The Usual Supsects
-Saving Private Ryan
-Die Hard...maybe the best action movie ever made
-Wayne's World 1 and 2 - classic...so hilarious

2= Independance day
3= Space balls
4= All the austin powers movies
5= James Bond 007
6= Lord of the rings
7= Godzilla
8= Rush hour 1&2
9= Most of the Monty Python movies(Holy Grail)
10= The Naked Gun (all)

There are tons more, but i tryed to stay original.

Yeah, I believe we got that...

And in reference to White Chicks, I cannot believe you actually like that tasteless, horrid, impeccably unintelligent crap that some people call a film...cheap laughs and crude "humor" that insults one's intelligence. That about sums it up.

Gee, for a second there McFly I thought you were writing the review for Dumb and Dumberer. Another fine piece of cinematic excellence ...

Dumb and Dumberer has its good scenes. I do admit i was virtualy crying with laughter when the blinde guy rubbed chocolate on everythin gin the bathroom, but no doubt the funniest part was when he got change into a female suit...frickin hilarious

I'm quite into films, so i generally enjoy most of em that i see on one level or another. My list could go on for pages, so i'll try and limit it. In no particular order;

- Pirates of the Caribbean, particularly Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow
- American Beauty
- LA Confidential
- Shawn Of The Dead
- Monty Python Holy Grail
- Toy Story 2 (Classic!)
- Liar Liar
- Star Wars Episodes IV,V,VI
- Spiderman
- Scream (mmmmmm Courteney Cox, ahem sorry)
- Lord Of The Rings

Film of the year is a more interesting question, cos it hasn't been the best year for films imo. I would have to say the Incredibles, which is hilarious.

I agree, The Incredibles is the best film of the year. Loved every part of it. The second best cgi-animated movie, after Shrek 1. ( haven't seen Toy Story 2 in a long time)

Yeah, I haven't seen Dumb and Dumberer....Dumb and Dumber itself has its funny moments, but it's not that great. But I refuse to ever put myself through Dumb and Dumberer... [xx(]

Also, good list you've got there 'x'.....

I've been meaning to rent Memento, but haven't gotten around to it. I've definitely been having the urge to see Rear Window again...such an excellent film.

McFly: Rear Window is an amazing movie. But I think it should go a long time between each time you see it. It's not the same if you know whats gonna happend. The end is so exiting. And Memento is great!

I forgot my propably number 1 1960's film Dr.Strangelove. I love every part about that movie. Peter Sellers is great. And the end is unforgetable:)

I just rented Dr. Strangelove and I must say, that is an instant top 10, probably top 5 for me. Hilarious dialogue, great direction, and a great satire on politicians and the like....'You can't fight in here! - this is the war room'

Great great movie, and I would recommend everyone to see it...Peter Sellers is great as Mandrake, Strangelove, and Pres. Merkin Muffley...those phone conversations with the Soviet Premier...classic. And the seriousness in Sterling Hayden's performance as Gen. Jack Ripper is just great.

McFly: Strangelove is hillarious. I love every scene. And the end is classic. "Mein Fuhrer, I can walk!" Dr.Strangelove is such a funny character.

I read somewhere that Kubrick told Sterling Hayden that it was a serious movie. He didn't know it was gonna be a comedy!

I'm not sure about Hayden, who was probably playing it seriously, but the actor Slim Pickens, who played the pilot of the B-52, "Kong," 'was never shown the script nor told it was a black comedy; ordered by Kubrick to play it straight, he played the role as if it were a serious drama - with amusing results.'
