Pumping on Kingda Ka?

Not in all cases, no. Many wooden coasters feature pumping (old ones) and it gives an awesome feeling. Big Dipper for instance at Geauga Lake, pumping at the tops of the hills, but its sweet!! You get 2spots of ejector air plus floater. Isnt that better than 1 spot of ejector and floater?

I dont know, the suprise of the second pop of airtime in the same hill adds to the excitement. The whole ride should be retracked for this year, I cant wait to ride it as it once originally was (minus a few things that modernized it)

I love hills that are profiled like that.

Big Dipper is a good example of this, but the Dallas State Fair Comet had MUCH more air on the entrance and exit. I saw a video of it, and the people are just thrown up instantly, and forcefully, into the buzzbar.



Coaster @ Playland is probably the best example of a currently operating coaster that has that kind of pumping on the tops of the hills. I rode it in August last year, and the 2 bunny hills that have sharp entrances and exits with flat tops near the end of the ride provide the most intense ejector air I've experienced:

Probably because it's not intentional. I know I try to keep some of my woodies rough, but I do also give a comment about it when I upload so people know not to dock too much, unless they think it was overdone and would hurt riders.

Anyhow, knowing Intamin, there will be no pumping, or if any, extremely tiny amounts. If you were to go over a pump at 20 mph, you wouldn't get hurt. However, at about 100 mph, it would seriously hurt. Pumping shouldn't be forgiven on something like this, a $15 million massive steel record holder.

will top thrill dragster will be in the records still and how tall it dwafe top thrill dragster cause its 455 ft will it be in the records books now cause its finish ?

Wouldn't using calculus and differential equations (assuming thats what coaster designers use) mean that it would be engineered correctly? The math is what makes the rides perfect, no further engineering needs to be done to perfect the ride.

erm.. no... dragster wont be in the records book. but it will still be number 2 tallest coaster in the world and it will be the first to break the 400 foot barrier.


as for pumping: of course ntamin rides dont have pumping! they make costers with mathematical equations and CAD programs. they don't have pumping! we get pumping in nl because we're just fiddleing with little nodes that have to be perfect. actually, there will always be pumping to some degree in nl coasters that were hand-made. i think it's not that big of a deal, but some people take off majorly for it.

I am pretty sure these are official, I recieved none from sources, cept for drop

First to break 420 ft barrier
First to break 120 mph speed limit
Highest drop 400 ft
Longest drop (in track length and I dont happen to know the amount, but I did read this somewhere)

It would be first coaster to use a Hydraulic Launch, but there was Xcellerator first. Funny, by the end of 2005, there will be 6 Hydraulic Launch coasters running, that is twice as much as the summer of 2004. 2 in Europe only 1 here, Kingda Ka.

Just because Intamin uses math and cad doesnt mean pumping cannot exist. They still have to engineer it correctly


And if someone made a ride and designed it to be like those rides, Big D, Silver Comet and Coaster, I wouldnt dock. Of course, they may take a little more work to make them work right, but if someone made a ride like that and it was made like those old ones, I wouldnt have a problem.

well, you'd have to engineer the pumping into the ride. it wouldnt be accidental. so it can exist, but you'd have to put it there.
