[England] The hunt

This post is for the English contingent of the site (not that I will mind if anyone else posts their views.)

I was just wondering what your views were on the governemt banning the hunt?

To be honest, I have a fairly lackadaisicle outlook on the whole thing, as far as I'm concerned, people who are involved in hunting foxes are all posh twats anyway ... that might be a stereotype, but theres no smoke without fire (except in the case of moke machines lol)
Anyway, I'd rather have nothing to do with upper social class and so I couldn't give a flying left testicle hair what they do, as long as they don't do it near me. As far as I can see, all they're doing is keeping the fox population under control and enjoying themselves at the same time ... I enjoy playing football (soccer) and I get mighty pissed off when me and my mates get told to get off the school pitch (technically we're breaking the law by playing there), so I can imagine how pissed off I would be if I was told I could never play footy again, it must be something like that for these posh types so in conclusion, I guess I'm all for the hunt ... probably more for the sake of rebelion than anything

Anyway, what do you lot think?

I think fox hunting is pretty lame to be honest. The people who go fox hnting, as said, are generaly posh arseholes that are only lied by other posh people. I dont see how killing a fox proves anything, there simply is no point in going out and letting about 50 hound dogs slaughter a single fox. I mean, if the posh twats were to go out Grizzly bear hunting with nothing more than a horse and a couple of dogs, i would be more impressed, rather than killing an animal which is about the size of small dog. Plus if you see a fox in the wild, they are actualy quite an impressive site to look at, like wild Deer. In other words, im all for banning the hunt

Yeah, actually I take your point. But as bad as it is to say, it is an English tradition and I'd hate to be part of a generation that wiped out and age old traditon ... maybe thats just me.

Maybe if they were to hunt in an environment where the foxes were bred especially for hunting and so had no family, wasn't used to any other way of living etc etc ...

I guess it is quite cruel too, but you know, it would be the same as banning Bull fighting in Spain, I would hate to see that banned also because like I said with fox hunting, its an age old tradition that represents a big part of its respective conutries culture. It is cruel to the animals, but hey its not our fault that we evolved more than them [:P] ... I guess its not theirs either but still poop happens.

Difference is the Bulls in Spain usaly kill a couple of people too which is always fun to watch, so at least some people get there comupence, yu dont really here of foxes killin people in the UK, Badgers on the other hand. The story of the badger that chased a child for 800 m until the boy got inside, and then the badger tried to crawl through the cat flap to ge him...funny, funny stuff

haha, yeah that was funny, it trapped that kid and his family inside their house for 45 minutes because they were scared of it but it did look damn scary!! (insert sarcasm gesture here)

Yeah, Bull fighting is still suposed cruelty to animals though, I guess that makes it all the same as fox hunting in a way ... I take the point that the bull has sliiiightly defense than a fox, still curelty to animals though. You know what, I dont know if I'm against fox hunting or for it now, you've confused me Edge ... not a hard thing to accomplish I must admit, but you've done it hehe.

Anyone else got any points?

So much for English traditions Gouldy, before long well have paki's riding around fox hunting, listening to there god damn Bollywood music selling dodgy items for 99p. Why the hell did they have to move the our country? Its not us Brits go out and live in India...why couldnt they have seteled for somewhere like France?

Oddly enough guys, this was about a one second blip on the news and was gone from radar here in the States. I took it as, "Oh well, I guess the fox finally got smarter."

pfft, I guess its a fairly big deal over here, well to some people it is anyways, because to some people its their life and ... poop. Posh/rich knob jockeys admittedly but still its how they live their life.

Edge, I know there has been a loss of tradition in England lately, what with the cosmopolitan look of about half the UK's surnames now and we could go on forever about internationalisation of English football, we could certainly hold a lengthy conversation about the history of corner shops too. But isn't that all the more reason to try and hold on to any British traditions there are left? To be honest, I couldn't care less about the people who participate in fox hunting, its just you know ... it'd be like losing the royal family, although we all wish it would happen, we'd have no identity without it ... if you see what I'm trying to get at.
