@ Fornication

Are you '.Chris.' on cs.com?

And that 3ds object wasn't made by real, made by a very cool guy called Tyrant!

For the rail view, you can just use the fly by view, all they really need is to add another fly by view with a different default position.

If you people want all of these glorious add ons, pitch in a few thousand dollars and hire a crew of talented, real graphics/3d modeling guys say from ID or Valve to go work with Ole then.

Comparing a game made by one coder, 1 modeler and a couple texture artists is HARDLY a fair comparison against the other "mainstream" games that have HUGE budgets and sometimes hundreds of people doing multiple things at once.

While we are at it, we might as well compare a mom and pop computer discount store to Best Buy or say, Dell. Cause ya know, the Mom and pop store should be able to sell for rock bottom prices and get their own parts at uber cheap prices and offer tons of add ons and service plans etc. :

What sucks is that none of the big companies develop these kind of coaster programs (they only care about what interests the public-fighting/shooting games, which also means that atari and frontier had better get their asses rolling with RCT3 so that they can be the first ones)

Edit: Ooops, I made a typo up there.

... I am disappointed to say that this comment you made was on the stupid stupid.
1. It might not be hard.... for an experienced modeler as yourself who knows the tricks and stuff for modeling.
But for some one like myself who has little experience, and who is still trying to figure out how to size a custom station appropriately, it would be impossible. I thought some one like yourself would have realized that.

Then stop using OC and move on to anim8or. (alternatively, you can just scale the object in the editor) [approve] [;)]

One thing that helps is to model the catwalks and station first, then put the into the editor, then when you make the track, you can adjust things to the objects.

Yes.

@Coasteragent (I think it was you that said that comment about the rail view) - It doesn't quite work the same way though. If you use the flyby view the 'head/camera' ends up going through the track on hills and inversions. I want an option to have the camera stuck to the very front of the train, low down near the rails. Almost as if the camera was mounted on the axle of the first car.

Like in RCT 3

Yeah, that would be a pretty cool option

It sounds like you're using the persuit fly by view.

No I'm using the fly-by mode. The problem is that when you move the camera out infront of the train and down to the rail, the camera still rotates around the seat the camera was in.

What??? Don't move it so low that it's under the rail. Maybe you're in the wrong seat (or trying to get in the wrong seat) Just park the camera right at the nose of the train, don't try to go a mile out.

Edit: I get it. Don't try to move out, just stay at the nose of the car. (duh)

^ what does that have to do with video cards????? He never said actually having peeps. (and even if there was, it shouldn't cause much of a framerate loss)

Anyways, too bad ole isn't here to reply to this topic.

I would like a transfer option and track so that you could ride with more (or less) trains if you want without editing the coaster options.

And I also want a advanced ride opp. panel! [:)]

Let's give only the priority ideas first. :)

Oh, one more thing, ability to move 3ds into another folder without having to place the objects on the track all over again (in other words, a function that lets you change the 3ds refrences)

Edit: I heard the construction kit does this, nvm then.

Are you going to construct a list? Because I have alot of useful suggestions for the editor.
Simply put I want it to function more like AutoDesk or Autodesk Architectural Desktop.
If you are making a list, let me know so I can re-write some of my ideas in more understandable form, lol.

I think we should get a team of about 3 - 5 people to make a giant list, find out what people really want, and what we think is necisarry in order for the game to grow, then have them make the list, and send it.

^ thats not what I meant. I mean like an organized list like a
- bla bla bla
- bla bla bla bla
- bark bark bark bark bark bark
- words words words...
kinda list.
They already know what people what, but, maybe we should let them know what the people really want, so we can help them prioritize.
As for a commity, I'm thinking some one like
FN, Real, Me, Grim, and YOurself(Coasteragent), but that's just what I'm thinking.
Why?
FN seems very organized
Real knows a lot about the process and crap like that
Me - because I have a fair amount of time
You - seem to be active and have the time, and you've already helped
Grim - I'm sure he'd like to do it also

Arg, I should've gave them this link along with the other one. Should I just send another email?

What's nice is that you can edit posts, what sucks is that you can't endit sent messages.
