what was rct1 like?

i am coriuos i want to buy it.

Go to Wal Mart. It's only 10 bucks. It's just like RCT2, with less features.

If you haven't plaed it before I guess it will be crap. Play RCT2 in stead. Same game, more features. But for us that have played it before RCT1 is great out of nostalgic reasons. Too bad my copy doens't work. I would realy whant to see some of my old parks.

you're not missing much...I'm in the same situation as x, where I had a bunch of really cool parks but can't play anymore. rct1 is rct2 with poorer graphics and fewer options. back when it came out and I bought it, I was hooked on it right away because of the gameplay more than anything. it wasn't just the coasters that made the game a classic...but if you never played it before then don't bother, it will just seem stupid and old I guess. of course, who am I to talk I still have the original "theme park" lol.

that was the most fun i ever had. turning peeps into fireworks, easy merging, one of the BEST rct park recreations in the world (Oblivion's PKI) the awesome hacks, the incredible trainers like Beast and DRAGON and the all-mighty Hex Hacker: PEEP, and addiction... rct1 was so addicting... and imo, rct2 kinda lost the addiction part, and rct3 destroyed it all... rct1 started a great and fun era, now, unfourtunatly, that is over. Go to the old fan sites, the ones that havent been updated since rct1 (like extreamrct) and you will see, rct1 was a great game. it kept you intrested into the game with new levels to look foward to, and the 2 best expansions ever, expansions that actually made the game better, unlike WW and TT. You just can't beat a game like that.

The Win XP incompatibilty is a problem tho, and the Duelex version, which IS compatible with win Xp, does NOT allow: Tachno, Beast, PEEP, DRAGONs 1.1 - 1.9, and Silver... those are the best parts of the game... so DONT get the duelex version, you will miss so much... in my spare time.... after i get sick of trying to crack rct3, i work a little oin a win XP rct1.... far off from finishing anything tho.....

so yeah. Dont usder rate rct1 because of it graphics and such, it was a great game.

Anyone remember a park called Hybrid park? That was an amzing park done. And ofcourse the trainers where fun. I only used DragonsIOA. Had a lot of fun with that.

Well, RCT2 and RCT1 are my favorite. If you got the cash, get the 2nd one and the first one. RCT3 was like what grim said, totally ruined it. This type of game doesn't belong in 3d.

It works on my XP, but not the expansion packs. Then I found that when I went back to the old comp, the expansion packs didn't work either. They worked like 2 years ago, wtf happened? Oh well, no matter, I don't play it anymore

IMO, RCT1 is way better than RCT2 or 3 ... maybe not in terms of coaster types and what the coasters can do, but the scenario's etc etc, are just much better and much more fun. If I was you I would buy it for sure [:)]

The maps from rct1 have been made again for rct2. And someone is busy with making the scenarios from rct1 and rct2 for rct3 i heard. So he can buy rct2 better. Is more fun.

i played rct1 on windows ME before...

I know this is an old topic, this is just a quick update.
RCT 1, 2, & 3 work with Windows 10 in the compatibility mode.
