bitched and whined for a reasonable well explained rate of 7.something, he threatened to leave wws,com if we didn't remove it, we didn't give into the coercion and voila, he left

Sadly though, he seemed to have vanished from a few other places as well ...

I guess it is a shame really, i do admit he was a good designer like Real. However Real as said in one his posts, he knows that he is well known and people enjoy his tracks, so he did the decent thing to do and share them around, i guess it was just a case of someone not getting what they wanted

Yeah...he's uploaded to CS a few times recently, and from personal conversations with him, he seems like a nice guy. Getting angry over a 7 is pretty pointless and unnecessary, but hey, nobody likes to get a lower-than-expected rate...

that's the topic in question, went to dig it up. He only posted once in it but discussed it more outside the forum with GFA which is where the threat or better said the option was given to us, delete and he'll continue here or leave it and he'll leave, as seen on page 2, I did not give into the coercion per say.

However lately I have become quite agitated with people rating down because I use tools. Frankly, I never knew that Building Technique was based on the PROCESS it took to build the ride, instead of the END RESULT of the ride.

It really makes me question why people rate and why people download. Also makes me question whether or not I feel like making anymore rides.

And this is TOTALLY not specific to this site. CS and another site are having the same issues and I was hoping one site would not but eh, oh well. I wont lose any sleep over it.

Its just really sad that people now rate on how you made the ride rather than the rides final design. Simply an amazing concept really.

I've always felt that there are two different camps at all of the different coaster game websites...those that play these games because they truly love rollercoasters, and then there are others that don't necessarily like rollercoasters, but they like playing computer games, all the while endlessly trying to beat the "high score". I think the NL tool debate is a perfect example of that.

As for the topic about Sir Hansixx, Coaster God...well, I really enjoy riding his coasters. He never ceases to amaze me with what he puts out. I do think it was a bit childish of him to leave this site over something so stupid. I don't personally know him though, so I will just leave it at that.

Well, I don't see why he left. I've been pissed off about stuff, and said I would leave the site, only to come back a couple of weeks later (No need to go digging out and finding those topics, I haven't looked at them, and never will) but simply to quit because of one bad rate, that doesn't mean crap compared with the other rates is rediculous. He still got his gold medal, and all he'd have to do is improve on his ride, that's the whole point of the rating system.

but let's stop the flaming and let it go, user asked a question and it has been answered, no need to critique one's feelings no matter how we feel about them, they have every right to leave one site as you guys have the right to leave any site for whatever reasons. Anyway, with that, keep it cool and stuff.

Well I kind of go both ways with this, one who spends many hours (50+) and achieves a rate of 9, cant be compared to a coaster that was created in 10 hours using tools and that got the same rating. It just aint fair, and I know life aint, believe me, I would know, but in cases like this were it can be made fair, it should. So perhaps there being a tool used section and hand-made section. IDK, but something must be done. No hard feelings to tool users, I have nothing against them, but I would say its not fair to compare a tool-oriented coaster to a hand-made coaster of the same rating, wouldnt you think that too?

learn to use the tools, simple as that, it's only math. Hell I have a hard time with math and have managed to use these tools. Although I still prefer the classic building way.

Rating down for tool usage ... pretty petty IMO. I mean, it is the end result that counts, NOT how you got there, eh?? And WWS said it right ... it's only math folks, LOL!
