To make lifts I just use the hill section wizard to make the entrance. then use the straight wizard to rotate a straight piece to the proper angle and then use the hill section wizard to make the top and then rotate it in the purg (the wizards fudges up when making a hill crest).

Takes like 5 minutes to make a lift that way lol.

Do you know why when making a hill crest it doesn't work?

Sure it works, you just have to read the directions. For instance, to make the top of a camel back hill with entrance and exit angles of 30 degrees from horizontal, you'd use 150 degrees for one angle, and 210 for the other

I can read and follow the direction, it still doesn't work.
When I follow the direction, it makes a curve that curves over itself (sorry, I wish I could explain it better). I will take a screenshot and show it.

[edit]No wonder I couldn't ever get it to work, the instructions are wrong. Specifically on how to get the hill section to start at the right angle.
In the current instructions it says to just use the angle of ascent. But when you use that angle, it gives you a result like this;
Image
The green section is the hill pullup I made with the hill section wizard, the brown section was a straight section made with the straight section wizard and the purple section was the hill crest following the directions from the wizard.

Basically I use the Helix maker to make my vertical curves. If I need a 30 degree lift, I punch that in. Then i rotate in the Purg, then slap into NL. Throw in some straights, etc etc. It takes some time but at least I know my lifts are perfect :P
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! No trade secrets!! LOL!!!
Anyway, Tyler is right on folks ... why should rides take months when the same result can be done in a week? Trust me on this, those that are griping about it completely ... just try it ... and then come back and comment. I was anti-tools as well folks, but not anymore.

not to mention when every coaster (almost) needs a lift there is no point on spending hours making a lift for every coaster you build.

But you dont get leadins using that ;) You get harsh transitions.

I only use it to create the lift hill, so those problems don't show ;)

But you are correct for the other 99.912331 percent of the population.

True. Could you post a screenshot of the editor with an example of using the helix wizard to make a lift hill?

Its not too difficult and I dont like to use a bajillion verticies when 8 usually works fine anyways.

2 hours to create a lift hill? What the hell happened to your social life?

That only took me personally about 20 minutes.

I have little to no social life. The other half of my social life is in Florida till June so my social life consists of going to arcades with my sister and soon to Cedar Point once its open. Once the girl gets back social life returns :P

Ive got a bit more going on anyways that needs my attention than social issues, hence why my NL production has pretty much stopped at the moment.

I force the vertices to 8 as well ... splits the segment up nicely and I can mess with banking by hand if I get the notion. Dirk ... you need to get out more. 2 hours on a lift ... geesh ... even by hand a lift is about 15-20 mins time.

[lol]

Im VERY close to being married...well, not really but Ive been with the same girl for almost 4 years (in April) and we are very confident we are meant for one another. So its not a matter of if, but when :P

I was just making sure, since right now, I have no life :P

On the curve up did you use a leadout?

No need, in my understanding, for a lead out there since it is coming off a straight piece .. but a small jog left or right will usually suffice, like:

I did however, just really small, like 1ft. It shows in the editor, which is where I spend majority of my time. I do this when I rate too.

But lately my ratings are a bit more philosophical than techincal. Youll see, once I start rating like that here.
