This doesn't include pre-fabed supports!! First off, here's what you agree with depending on what you choose:

Pre-Fabs: Using the in game pre-fabs is OK. That's why they put them there in the first place, right? I don't think that anyone who uses the pre-fabs should be not counted off for using them.

No Pre-Fabs: Using the in game pre-fabs is not OK! They only put them in their for noobs to use. If you're going to design coasters, you have to learn to play the game without them. I think people who use them should be penalized just a little so they'll learn to create their own custom track.

There is no I don't care...it's either one or the other! :P

See ya![dorkhat]

Prefabs are for noobs or for people who want to see what there ride is going to look like without custom making them.

Edit! Oops! I thought you were talking about supports too, my answer still stays the same though.

Which prefabs are you talking about? The ones that you make in elementry or the old ones that come with the game?

EDIT: Just re read what you put and realised that this has nothing to do with supports [lol].

I guess a pre fab loop isn't so bad, but with other inversions and elements you really have to build them to fit into the layout with exact angles and such otherwise the track begins to look exactly like it has been constructed from pre-fabs ..... obviously, but you know. I guess a pre fab corskcrew isn't such a bad thing either, but I would award more marks if someone had gone to the effort of making their own I think.

Shakes fist violently**

Well since your words of wisdom there stopped me from saying what i wanted to, i say a mix of both is possible in some rides. I mean theres no need to create a loop when theres a perfectly good one in Buster elementpack thingy

The pre-fabs (inversions, helixes, etc.) that come with the game pump like mad, and most experienced designers can spot them a mile away. So, when throwing a prefab from NL in a design may look cool, really is not going to get the rates you want, and since they require so much hand fixing (smoothing) anyway ... so you might as well go on and make them yourself.

[lol]
Pre-fabs made in elementary ... roger that! Once you make them, you never have to remake them!!

Thats pretty shallow matt.

I can think of many instances where a pre-fab works exactly like a custom. If you use them in the appropriate place, then I think its fine. If you use it in the wrong place, then its bad.

Again here people, we need to be looking at the END RESULT, not the process it took to get there. No one cares how Intamin or CCI builds their rides, they care how it works in the END. is it safe? is it fun? etc.

Watching a coaster get constructed in the best part imo [lol] Then you ride it and find out it was no way as good as you thought it would be *cough AIR

I think using pre-fab elements is for n00bs, but pre-fab supports I agree with what Real said... pre-fab supports are ok, only if the custom support you would use in its place would look very simular.

I agree Edge, but you arent watching me spend countless hours in the editor either.

Its much more amusing IRL, but Im drawing the parallel to the fact that as long as the end product is the things I mentioned, how it was built doesnt matter. Especially IRL, they always have methods they follow. Theres never a set pattern, each ride has its own unique method.

And BTW, I could have told you Air would be boring :P

This is similar to the tools or no tools debate. For me, prefabs are OK as long as they look realistic enough (for example, using single-structure beams on a 30ft high launch run is OK). However, if you're trying to support a 400ft high ride with them, that's definately a no no.

Prefabs are any elements saved from another track, or imported from an external program. I dont mind them, although most that come with the game suck. If I find that the designer used nearly all pre-fabs it would hurt their score. I do not mind a few here and there though.

Well I misread too.

I dont even see a debate over this. Why make something over again if you already made it good once? Thats completely pointless.

If thats the case, you might as well never have a cache on your computer. Re-load everything everytime you ever want to use it.

Prefab's can only used if you use it as a base for your other supports, if you want to make goliath's (walibiworld) lift hill and camelback supports, i think its ok to used it with custom supports, but if there a track that has only of very much prefbab's it ain't worth a good rate

Just be carefull when doing this, I know some people have said that when trying to build off of the prefab supports it has caused the editor to crash.

Actually, this page of WWS brings this up:

People who say that prefabs are for noobs are probably noobs and should learn to use them effectively.

I don't like prefabs myself. Their good for sections low to the ground but other than that custom supports can make a good ride great. My Blast Zone coaster probably would have been sub-par without the massive amounts of custom supports.

Being a newbie to NL I don't think there's anything wrong with using the pre-fabs. If anything, I think they are there to teach new users how to construct a ride easier and then the builder can move on from there to create their own designs.

I agree that this goes along with the "Tools" subject.

I see nothing wrong with using prefabs if you ride your creation to make sure they fit. Meaning I have never used a prefab that did not need some tweaking to make it work.

This is supposed to be a fun simulator not a job.
