Ok, so I got a bug up the 'ol behind and I desperately needed a break from other projects, so I have been plugging away at a new MOD for SM... The Shuttle Mod.

This is more than a new train, or a new station or a new environment, in fact it is all those things, and possibly a little more.

The Train is made for the LIM Launch track (AKA, Premier Launch track) The train has unique Front and Rear cars for the nose cone and booster engines, these are 2 seat cars, the 4 main cars in between are 4 seat cars that resemble the body of the shuttle. The seats have OSTRs... I really wanted to do butterfly, but you can not do that with SM1, and the OSTRs work with the seats. The Acceleration fins act as the shuttle wings. Efficiently modeled and lightly textured, the trains should run at decent FPS. It is a cool looking fantasy train with very realistic styling.

The station is an enclosed, modern looking "Mission Control" perfect for launching the train. The track is meant to come straing out of the station, pause at a staging area, and then into a launch section. While this is the intent, a version of the station that only contains the loading/unloading "Mission Control" area will be available. You can also surround the launch section with your choice of a launch scaffolding or a launch tunnel. Both of these are modular and will be able to be implemented at a variety of lengths.

The environment goes right along with it, won't go into too much detail, still trying to figure out how I can do what I want to do with it. Time permitting, I would also like to include a few simple space themed objects as well.

I should have some early screenshots available soon as I finally got a working version of the 3 different cars all set up. I just have to texture them. I have the station 65% modeled, that will also need to be textured.

I am still working on the Xcelerator trains as well, but these were more fun so I have bumped them up.

How could I have missed this topic [:p] Sounds really cool and looking forward to it. Nice to see some themed trains and stations in the game.

uhm... This topic is 2,5 years old. So I think it stalled.
