There has been alot of debate over whether having 2 person matches and 3 person matches at the same time is fair.
Old System: The match-up brackets required a limited number of entries to keep the pairings perfect, (4,8,16,24,32,48, or 64), and then there was a list of reserves for everyone that signed up late in case no tracks were submitted in a certain group.
New System: Everyone that signs up competes in the contest, and the highest ranked losers in each round are the reserves. However, in the first round there are a few mis-matches because of the imperfect number of contenders. (44 in this case)
Experimental System: Let everyone compete in the first round with no pairings at all, and then take the top 16 tracks to the actual brackets, then follow up like the NCAA and use the rankings to set up the brackets. The highest ranking losing tracks are the reserves.
So, which system do you prefer? The result of this vote will determine what format the qualification for the contest will use next year. If #3 is the winner, the current match-up contest will be re-formatted to use the top 16 tracks instead of the matches.
POLL WILL CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT ON APRIL 20, and tracks for round one of the Match-up Contest will advance based on the results. We will either take the top 16, or the 16 winners of the rounds. It's up to you.
