Do you not realize how stupid you all sound?

To think you are all actually arguing about the fact that everyone has an opinion ... come on. And thecool326, I'm sorry bud - but you just need to stop all-together by posting your own rating scale - no one asked for it, and no one really cares actually.

Geesh .... morons. [lol]

Yea, the morale of the story here is this is a WEBSITE. If you let what other people say REALLY affect you that much, you have some problems you need to get taken care of.

Really now. I could see if your best friend or a friend in real life said something negative to you, but, nothing on the internet should upset you.

In the very least it should all be constructive. But never should you get angry or super defensive about someone elses opinion, especially when theres a vast majority of young people on this site.

lol.. i agree sort-of. and thecool, it's RHODE island [;)]

and actually, i posted how i rate (and titled it "how to rate") because of what fornication nation said here:
http://www.coastercrazy.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7930
i did all this to show exactly how i rate and to offer tips and hopefully help people rate more realistically, but apparently people don't appreciate that.

Oh stop "pump" ... you are one of the worst, most incompetent, raters on the face of the Earth.

Geesh. [lol]

well, I just think that people rate down for dumb reasons, and put my rating sample up for a guidline to other people. No one was forcing it down your throats.
As for the self esteem crap, it does matter. Most people who build crappy rides are younger kids. And when they see that thier rides suck, after they've put a lot of work into it, they might get discourage and quit all together. So basically rate honostly, don't rate hard because its cool, but rate what you think is right. But along with that, don't rate high either, just because your the guy's friend, or because you feel like being nice, or because you can. Rate because that ride deserved it. Also I would like to add that there is more to technical than just pumping. I swear to god, if I see ride that is fairly good, but has only a 5 in Technical, I will shake my fists at my monitor.

btw tconwell, i never said that i was a good rater, i know i still need work on rating, well except you because you are the most realistic rater i know, but like i said i never said i was a good rater, but my point that im trying to bring across is that coaster writes a topic on rating when IMO he does not know how to rate himself

Thanks Kev :)

As far as Im concerned the only "rules" I like to see are this:

Express your rating in a coherant, readable paragraph.
Make it a paragraph or 2, not a sentence or 2.
Try to tell me what you liked and why, and what you didnt like and why.

Pretty dang simple. If you ask me, I think any community would benefit from people rating like THAT instead of these huge elaborate rating scales and systems which dont do much for the reader/builder. Just tell me what you liked/disliked and why. Then make it readable and supply me with more than 20 seconds of information.

Summed up -- be coherent and explain yourself. Else, you end up proving again that you are a moron.
