this one?

OK, my guess for the rest of the rounds is that each round will be a different B&M. One floorless, one standup, on invert, and one hyper. hehe.

or this one?

My theory is that each round will present a challange similar to a real coaster opening this year. The first round was Dorney's Hydra.

But i know tyler doesn't have right always so i guess it is the first one. A series of b&m rides [:D] [:P]

nah, to easy to support

Actually, no...probably the most difficult to support realistically.

never heard of woodmagic?

Haven't you ever seen how much work goes into a McFly creation. Most of the time he starts with just standard supports and builds the lateral bracing by hand. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

Ha, I said realistically. A good ride auto-supports do not make.

Yep, if you have inspected a decent woody very closely, it actually turns out that alot of the supports are hand made. Mainly lateral bracing and things like hat. Check out McFlys woodies, and Bobcoasters to see examples of this. I know for a fact that Bob puts so much work into the custom supports.

Yup, he also does good custom supporting for woodies too!

SPeaking of awesome McFly coasters...

His entry to round one. VERY NICE!

I only have one reservation: the rules require an inversion before the lift/launch. The element he uses gets to 147deg roll, short of a true 180deg upside-down.

What is the standard degree of roll that is generally accepted as an "inversion"? This would be a good thing to clarify before the next round, I think.

It's been clarified already, 135* and over are considered inversions. That means McFly's track did have an inversion before the launch.

Realistically, many B&M inversions probably don't get past 150 degrees or so. Look at this pic of Hydra's Cobra Roll for instance.

Cool. I wish I had known that before I submitted my track. Oh, well. If I happen to make it past this round, the info will come in handy for the next one!

I think tyler is right.

the first round was hydra's revenge.
especially because we had to build a coster with at least one inversion before the lift/launch...

yeah, you try judging 32 contest entries, bigman, and then we'll see who's laughing... I'm giving every entry a proper rating, and giving constructive advice to all. I could throw a number on them and call it done, but half the purpose of a contest is getting a proper rating.

Yeah, its really quite annoying when you have the ol' dickhead hassling you for the results. It took me several hours just to judge the treetop challenge and that was only 15 tracks. CJD has to do 32, so it doesnt help when you badger staff for results

p.s you get my track yet CJD?

No, I still haven't recieved your track. Just post it on the exchange along with some proof that you sent it before Thursday (screenshot of the message).

By the way, you only have 5 hours to submit it. I am posting the Round 2 details at midnight tonight, and I have to post the results before then.
