Yeah, it'd be nice to see Buster's track. And congratulations to all who moved on, and better I hope those who didn't make it try again next time, so there are so many entries again.

Quite frankly, having seen buster's ride, I'm surprised it did this well. For one thing, I saw several footers sticking through the track. Not saying that it wasn't a good ride, but frankly I don't think it was one of the more inventive rides in the contest. Basically just a bunch of inversions, not very compact all. The whole thing felt like something he threw together at the last minute from pretty much stock elements. I was expecting it to finish in the top 10 for sure, but not this high.

It had the best pacing, and was almost technically perfect. I admit it wasn't perfect, but I reflected that in the originality score.

BTW, Round 2 template and rules are now posted.

If I lost a point or two for the undercarriage collisions, which I'm not contesting, how come he didn't lose anything for this little gem, which is a MUCH more obvious problem:

That was one collision... your coaster had 9 of them, Tyler. I will admit that I missed the one on Buster's track, but it would not have changed the results. The technical score would be .5 lower, and his track would win the tiebreaker. BTW, it doesn't matter how severe a collision is. They are all still collisions and would mangle the train while it was running.

Yea, it would have actually. Dropping his tech down to 9 would have droped his overall score down to 8.83, putting it in a 3 way tie with my track and unfortunate smileys, which I would have won for having the highest adreneline and originality scores. At least it would seem to, based on the way you broke the other ties, and that I have the have the highest score award in both categories.

Actually, he would have won. The only reason that his track got an originality of 8 was because he forgot to give it a name and used all prefabbed supports. The track itself had better terrain use, and equal adrenaline.

Fine, I have no problem with the decision now that I understand the exact reasons for it being made.

Thanks for the comments and rating CJD. I appriciate the fact you bothered to rate such a bad track and give me a few pointers! Just a question, was that cobra roll sorta inversion smooth enough?

It had alot of pumping in it, and a rough transition between the rolls. It was a nice element, though.

The rules were changed... Your track was one of the 16 highest rated tracks submitted, so you moved on.

Hey ish, you wouldn't happen to be Felixleprachaun over at C2K would you? I haven't seen trackwork and supportwork like that since Leviathan.

I have to admit, you surprised me too, ish. I had never even heard of you until you signed up for the contest, and you made one of the best tracks. Great work, and I hope you start posting some more coasters for all of us to enjoy.
