This whole tools or no tools debate is really getting rediculous...Just build them however you are most comfortable building them!

But to answer the question, I like them.

Most people will put yes, but for me, I'd rather not use them because I feel my penis is sufficiently large enough as it is and so theres no need for me to make it look bigger [:)]

If you're gonna use tools, you might aswell just go and make an onride POV or something or even download one thats not yours, I mean you've obviously got no self pride anyway so why bother making your own POV video ey [:)]

The only tool I like is the NL Contruction Kit. I'm all for going into a design with nothing but a cursor and control points. I have figured out how to make perfect tracks by hand, so I really don't need Elementary or the Auto-Heartliner.

I dont follow gouldy at all.

I say, be congruent. If you use one tool, use them all. Dont use one but say the others are evil. They all do ONE thing, make things a little easier. One tool focuses on the track, another on terrain, etc. If you use one, I expect you to use them all. If not, your pride causes you to be hypocritical.

Just imagine if civilization had pride that large, wed never get anywhere.

Real, how don't you follow, its quite an obvious comparison, the one between NL tools and penis enlargers I mean. They're pretty similar really, you use one to make your ride better and you use the other to ....... well, make your ride better [lol] If you're not happy with your own standard of track building, then practise and get better. Unfortunately with a cock, you're given what you are given and if you want to make it bigger than it is you have to use tools, but with NL you are able to make yourself better by practising and just a little self pride. Sorry if I'm being hard to follow, but its because I'm a dumbass so don't blame me [lol]

Hey, gouldy, you cheated when you made that track! You used the wooden support generator! You should be ashamed....that wasn't your work at all!

Thank god for that one... I remember when you had to build wood supports by hand. That was a pain in the ass. Of course, I think the debate is more about Elementary and Auto-Heartliner.

Same thing, they're all tools. Gouldy is criticizing the use of tools when he uses them himself.

No, i think gouldy is the same as me, he only has a problem with tools that affect track work, not support work or anything. I dont like tools that affect track work, but if someone else uses them i dont mind, its up to them if they want to use them or not. I am quite happy to use tools which affect supports, as i only really do nolimits for the track work. And i wouldnt like to have to sit around and build woody supports by hand. lol. The only tools i have ever used are GRIMS environment maker, and the auto flanger. I dont like the auto terraformer, it always comes out all weird, and that is IMO a very fun part of making a track, making a terrain to follow.

I believe that the supports are more an aesthetic aspect when dealing with NL yes? Completely different thing to the actual track work. First off it was a wooden coaster so I really didn't care about it to be honest so I didn't take any pride in that track which is what this whole thing is about. And I have used tools there, so mark me down for it, I'd expect you to. I'm not saying that I would never ever use tools, what I am saying is that when I do, you will mark me down for doing so.

See to me all the tools do the same thing, thus it doesnt matter to me what part they effect. The auto-support generator for woodies is actually IMO worse than any track building tool. Why? Because it takes nearly any wooden track and makes a perfect wooden structure for it.

However, the more I think about it, the more the auto-support generator and track tools are exactly the same.

Auto-Supporter - If your track is perfect, so will your supports. Yes, if you plan ahead for all of your cross overs, helicies and such, you will not need to go back and trim on supports. you could still edit them, but it wouldnt be nessicary.

If your track isnt perfect in terms of the layout, crossovers and such, then youll need to make adjustments.

Track tools - If your track is perfect to begin with, it just spits something out thats different, but still perfect. However, if your track isnt perfect, whats spit out definatly is NO better than before.

I can understand NOT wanting to do woodie supports by hand, who would? But why spend so much time on the trackwork when the time could be spent improving other areas? Or in general, releasing more and better designs?

But I think trackwork makes up 50% of a track and supports make up 40%. The other 10 percent is everything else, hence why to me supports and trackwork are so evenly matched. Both can make or break a ride.

I also never rate down for use of tools unless used completely wrong. That rarely ever happens.

... mainly because when tools are used inproperly, the track comes out looking like total garbage. (Saying it differently for some): When someone tries to use tools incorrectly, the outcome is normally horrendous. So, when you have someone using them who uses them well and properly - the end result is normally pure genius.

For example (forgive me using this one Real - but it best demonstrates my point):

Focus on the launch and first inversion. The flawless application is amazing.

the whole ride is flawless. The only thing that stopped me from giving it a 10 was I didn't like how a part of the track came kind of close to the station, it looked unatural.

People think that because you use track tools and make a 100% smooth track, will earn a 10 in technicality are very incorrect. Technicality also refers to G control, support structure, track hits, pumping.... the list goes on and on. That is why you still need some experience to utilize tools. If tools where made available for everyone and were included in NL rather than third party software, I would stop complaining. In fact, I think that third party software should either be included in NL (officialy by the NL team) or eliminated from the world altogether. I would pay extra money if this was done. That way there would be no more bickering.

Brtn, if YOU would stop bickering, 90% of the bickering over tools would end.
