I want to max out all of my NL graphics settings, but not quite sure what to change to get the VERY best settings I can. I don't care about fps. These are my current settings:

Depth: 32 bit
Texture Depth: 32 bit
Texture Detail Level: high
LOD Switch Distance: normal
Shadow Level: normal
Reflection: sky only
Vertex Engine: GL 1.5
Dynamic Shadow Mode: off
Dithering: default
Vertical Sync: default
Multitexture Ext: on
Texture Filter: trilinear
Light Model: simple
Fullscene Antialising: Quality 3

I think your gonna want your dynamic shadowing on (not sure, but with the word dynamic, it sounds cool, so I have it flipped on) and i think there's a shawdow level higher than normal, isn't there>??

Change those things.

I believe your maxed out. Also I think there are some graphic settins under other or setup, can't remember which. When I switch on those settings though, my fps rarely rises above 15.

dithering off! At 32 bit there's no need for it. ;)

Oh. And switch sync on.
Also, reflections -> everything
Then go into advanced. GL 1.5

That should be all to max it out.

Thanks Real and Buster. The settings look great and surprisingly I haven't noticed a change in fps. And I also get those cool reflections on the track I've been wanting [:)]

I never use shadows. They never work on terrain and lengthed loading times. BTW, dynamic shadows is for the cars. (dynamic is something that changes, moves, etc. static refers to something still)

If you don't care about fps, I first of all would suggest maximizing the LOD and lighting, then if you want to you can add reflections in (except many rides don't use water and don't need it, other rides have lava, and the reflections are useless to render)

Oh, and sorry for being a bit late on this post.

Strange that I notice a difference with dithering on and off in 32bit mode.

On 32 bit, dithering should have no effect or a bad one if at all, who knows... I recommend switching it off when the setting is 32/32 (depth and textures).

hey , right on, may i butt in and ask what kind of card you're using and what framerates you get, i've always been confused as to how i should ste my stuff up to run the way i want(i'd like to get higher framerates on wooden coasters, the others always stay between 50 and 100, but on wood..wheeew... i get like as low as 5 some times, i've got a radeon 9200 128 card, whatever that means, and i got a full gig of ram(i use my computer mostly for music)on a 2.o GiG processor,i built the computer from scratch about 2 years ago, and it works great, but i still know little about how to really set it up for video, i had a 64k nvidia card the first time, and this card doesn't seem to make enough of a difference... i figure alot of you guys know way more about this than i do... any suggestuions?

You probably need a new video card the most. Here I have a 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro, and I get pretty good fps on all coasters even with the settings all maxed out. On my other computer I have a Radeon 9600 Pro, and its still a pretty good video card.
What's this? Can you make a screenshot?

I've always wondered what that was and what the differences are between its options.

Um, and what are the differences in the vertex engine thing? Mine won't even switch to 1.5 [lol]

The reflections that IF is talking about is actually the lighting options. Turning them off or on simple makes the track look flat. But having it on high or dynamic (whatever it is) makes the track reflect the world lighting wherever the light source is located.

FN: If you cant switch to 1.5 then you must not have a graphics card that supports it, which means you must be on one old computer.

Yeah, its a few years old and is really crappy. But just for the sake of it, do you know what the differences are between gl 1.1 and gl 1.5 or whatever? Mine also says gl 1.1+

It's the version of the OpenGL driver. This driver usually gets installed automatically when you install your graphics driver for your card. OpenGL1.5 uses new features on the graphicscard if the card has those features.

Buster.

I thought so too thecool. But I think that it is a very recent breakthrough - so I am guessing only the real power-driving cards have it. I think the Nividia 6800 Ultra has it.

Yay, I got a 9600 pro. However, it doesn't run NL at 100, but it's still a nice card.

And they'd better switch to GL 2.0 if they don't switch to DX9. (why do they want their graphics to stay out of date? Ppl should just get a new card like I did.)

You just got 9600? Why not the 9800? I have had the 9600 mobile (released later or around the release of 9600) and that was over a year ago.

I couldn't afford a 9800. (had around $145, had to save for other things)
