[lol] I don't like that idea myself, I'd get annoyed that Tyler had an unfair advantage with all his tools and what not, but I guess its my choice not to use tools, hmmm.

If you can build any ride in a day and get a medal, that doesnt say much for the raters who rated it. Hand built OR tool built, I dont think even a 7 day coaster has the same quality and examination as a 14 day coaster or beyond. Something always lacks.

Damn, you guys have huge egos....

Anyways, congratulations Tyler. All three were great tracks.

Um ... I gotta take issue with this. Real, you hardly rate a single ride anymore so casting stones at those who rate - however they rate - is well, inproper. Rides should be rated as opinions from the rater's standpoint, as I've said more than once.

And also, just because a ride was made in one day does NOT mean it has to be a bad ride. I can tell if a ride is a good NL coaster, and I have high standards. With that being said, I rated Tyler's tracks high and he DID build the tracks he uploaded in one day.

Are you saying I'm a bad rater, or I overrate tracks? Well you sure aren't much better Real. At least I rate coasters.

Howabout we totally divide the exchange and eliminate medals. While your at it, why not make two seperate communities, since this seems where this site is going.

Are you saying I'm a bad rater, or I overrate tracks? Well you sure aren't much better Real. At least I rate coasters.

In the last 2 months youve only rated 4 of his last 8 coasters. Of them, the average was right around a 8.88 I would guess without doing any actual math. So dont give everyone else the impression that you rate everything.

Secondly, trying to compare the quantity of rate to the quality is definatly an immature statement. Might as well compare tooled tracks to hand built...we know where they issue has gone, no where. Cant be compared.

Tylers rides are averaging 8-8.4. Which to me, is slightly inflated. Its my opinion and I believe part of it is some people throwing high numbers up because its perfectly smooth and provides alot of forces. For me, theres much more to a ride than that and Ive only ever still seen one tooled track that has a layout that feels completely 100% pre-planned and thought out. Was it? I dont know, but it feels that way. Most all tooled tracks I have seen since they started making them felt more of connecting together smooth elements of track, even if they dont feel right together.

I congratulate you on being able to take what I said and flip it so you can impress everyone here. No where did I mention you, nor anyone else. Next time you want to take it personal, do the mature thing and use the PM system or email.

However, the issue is not about how many rates anyone has. Its about the quality of rates given. My opinion obviously differs from you because I rate tooled tracks a bit differently than hand built out of sheer fairness. I feel those who tool need to put in as much or more effort into layout and effective design since the general outcome of the tracks technicality will be well-ny-perfect every time. Otherwise all you get are inflated scores from people who ride it and dont notice anything techincally so they throw huge numbers up because its all they know how to do. I never said you were one of them, in fact I mentioned no names.

Another thing I do with ratings that takes me so long to rate is I offer feedback. Not just the general "reports" on all things good, and bad. I usually try to offer tips and strategies they can use in the editor. There comes a point (especially with Tyler and those who tool) where what advice can I give them techincally? I cant, so Im reduced to telling him "I liked this, didnt like this, etc" and that feels useless. Id rather IM or PM him and tell him in there than in a rating. At least we can chat in real time over the issue instead of him reading it and going "wtf? whats that mean?" That way I can use my time to rate on someone who needs the techincal help that I feel I can offer. Obviously Tylers doing stuff I cant do...so Im of no help techincally. Advice on layouts is like advice on your opinion. He made it the way he did. If I like it or not, probably doesnt concern him.

Have at it though, pick this apart. Im sure you can find some way. Next time, maybe ask the person if they included you (when you arent listed) before you go attacking someone. It goes a long way.

EDIT- Another reason most tooled rides dont feel the same is because of how after a turn or helix, it flattens out BEFORE it goes up or down a hill, which is a bit odd feeling since its not very natural in real life. Not too many rides I know (made like the tools can) do that. If you reached the top of a helix and wanted to dive, you would just dive at the top of the helix - Not get to the top - flatten out then dive.

And its not so much a designer fault as it is just 100% relying on the tools. If you do that, thats how itll come out every time unless you write your own formulas and thats not the easiest thing to do. Its this that "breaks" up most of the feel for tooled rides.

Giving people the impression that I rate everything? How did I do that? I just said that I rated coasters. I don't know why you jumped into basically a whole rating guideline randomly like you did, as if saying my ratings suck and I need a lesson in writing them. I'm being the one thats accused of writing bad reviews and giving bad ratings? I know my ratings aren't perfect, but they sure are better than most raters I see.

How about you take your own damn advice on rating and then maybe rate a coaster or two. It takes more effort to write reviews like I do than to develop rating methods but never take the time to rate a freaking coaster.

And don't even think that not mentioning anyones name somehow makes what you said NOT pertain to me. I know it does, you said "If you can build any ride in a day and get a medal, that doesnt say much for the raters who rated it." -- Sure, you didn't mention anybodys name, but I'm one of those raters your talking about, and I rate coasters better than the majority of people on this goddamn site. TConwell also fits in with those raters your talking about. Who knows why he didn't defend himself...maybe because your the almighty Real, and of course everyone should worship you. Apparently if I stand up for myself when insulted, it isn't ok to do because Real can't be wrong!

Tony, you are an immature moron. No one said anything about atheism, and you are being just about as immature as humanly possible. Man, are you really this stupid or do you have to work at it? Now shut up and stop bringing this matter up time and time again, no one here is interested in talking about this, kid. If I were you, I would take this to heart and actually do it next time:

Ummmmmmmm ... I don't think I ever remember asking to have a foul-mouthed immature little kid defend me. Real and I talked (in real time no less) and worked things through and I know exactly what he meant when he said it, and knew darn well this was not a stab at me. So shut up and grow up little Tony, you are impressing no one here and most certainly (hear me now cause this just might help you and I don't care if you don't care to admit this) --- you are degrading our perception of you more and more each day.

I am not blind and I can clearly see those who rate well. Obviously you are insecure with this issue or you wouldnt have felt the need to defend yourself.

Again, for the second time, was your name mentioned? No, it wasnt. Im not going to sit there and make special clauses excluding all those who do rate good. Instead, you should be secure enough to sit there knowing that you do rate well and theres no need to defend yourself.

Maybe had you instead asked what I meant you would have gotten the full story instead of taking the statement personally and taking it upon yourself to ramble on. Ive got nothing against you, still dont. Just dont let every little thing that doesnt say "Not IntaminFan397" burn you up inside. Think before flaming.

Amazing what this was turned into wasnt it?! If I had wanted to have gotten personal I would have. Obviously I was general in an attempt to avoid it but people look for any reason.

Don't act as if you don't know what I'm talking about. You know very well what I'm referring to. As far as my immaturity and stupidity, thanks for telling me about it! I'll keep that in mind next time I post. [:)]

Oh darn, I really wanted those people over the internet to like me...
Just dont let every little thing that doesnt say "Not IntaminFan397" burn you up inside. Think before flaming.

Normally I wouldn't, but this situation was different, it didn't seem like you meant to exclude anyone.

And I don't know why people are so afraid of flaming. Its not like I said "U GUYZ R ALL STUPID". I addressed the situation more maturily than that.

I don't know why you guys had to make such a big deal out of a little thing that I said in my post. Am I really the insecure one?

Yes. Your attempt here to flip this situation around isnt going to work.

Your input was clearly unnecessary on the subject. Im not afraid of flaming. I choose my battles and this wasnt meant to be a battle. This situation was not different and your assumption got you into this mess.

As said before, before you go making assumptions based on what people say on the net, ask their intentions.

Looks like I made the mistake by assuming you and the others who do rate well would exclude yourselves from the mix, knowing in your mind that you arent part of the problem.

Whatever. Clearly I can't defend myself if I feel that I'm being the one whos being insulted. I'm not debating this anymore, its ridiculous.

Cant we all get along? This site is, and im sure intentionalized, as a friendly site, sure there are going to be debates and what not but this has gotton out of hand, I dont mean to get into this which i probably am, and by all means I dont intend to. I cant help the fact that you disagree, but cant we disagree in a more friendly matter? I dont mean to be sounding like your mothers.

I have been reading this topic for the last 5-10 minutes now, and I was wondering on how, and why this little matter turned into a big, out of control argument? All about ratings and what not, because I know for a fact that when I came to this site, everyone was encourging, ect. But now I feel like that this site, is all about arguing, and putting people down, and to be honest I am sick and tired of it! I know my word may not mean much, but this is horrible, so come on guys! Its ok to be opinionated, and everything, but there are some things that we need to keep to ourselves, and I know it really doesnt matter if people like on the "internet", but it matters how the people on this site try to make it a better place, and better overall enviorment, and less stress and work on the Admins, and Moderators. So please lets all just get along, well for now at least![:)]

That would be nice. But sadly we have several people on this forum that like to constantly attack people and won't stop bothering them.

This site was a friendly place, now there are too many assholes who don't want it to be and make things hard. I admit that I might get out of hand every now and then with what I say, but people like TConwell for example feel the need to harrass me for each post I make.

It used to be fun being an active member of these forums. Now no one ever has anything nice to say. What a shame.
