Lets start a topic with the idea of it being nothing more than an INFORMATION booth. this isnt an argument table, nor is it really to discuss things. You can, but lets keep on topic.

Use this thread to displace any Coaster myths you have. Personally, Ill be posting stuff that pertains to building in NoLimits, such as the one Im about to post. However, feel free to open it to any other myths.

For proof I want pictures and/or actual evidence. Not "I heard" or "I saw". Get something more tangible.

Myth #1
Vekoma does not make Zero G Rolls.

Yes, they do.

I know this is a crappy image of it, but here is more proof for anyone who hasn't seen a Vekoma zero-g roll.

Hmm, does this have to pure facts? Or can it be stuff like not all Vekoma's and Togo's are bad?

Thats your opinion and Id rather avoid that. Some people are just hard determined to hate all vekomas and togos, so let that be.

MYTH 2:

Coasters cannot exceed the -3 lat barrier at anytime.

TRUTH:

Yes they infact can, infact up to 3 lats - as long as it is all under only 1 second. More standards here:

^ THANK YOU. Someone understands! Believe me as much you say that though, you'll still get rated down for having only half the amount!

Great idea for a thread! Reminds me of the discussions (or maybe arguments? lol) we all had at CS a long time ago about curved lift hills, curved stations, and whatnot. I'll see if I can find some of the links for those...in the meantime, here's an oldie but goody about mid course brakes. Buster, WWS, and Real should prolly remember this one [;)] :

MYTH:

No real coaster designer would ever build a MCBR on an angle.

FACT:

Schwarzkopf did.

Heh, I'm a lier? How about researching it before making dumb assumptions like that next time.

BTW, I've ridden Twister. It definitely has a curved station, AND curved brakes. Phoenix, which is also at Knoebels, has a 180 degree turning brakerun too.

Well, that was pretty hard to determine if it was sarcasm or not. I thought it could've been, but I really believed you were being serious. Damn, I wish sarcasm was more obvious on message boards...

usually when I put ... thats a note that I'm using sarcasm, I thought people would have noticed the ..., who's serious and uses ...?
but yeah, Ninja at Six Flags Magic Mountain has a curved station, so yeah, there are stations like that.

No, your wrong, ragan...

[;)]

(Actually, you were right about me being serious. I use "..." a lot and rarely include it in places in which sarcasm is close by (unique wording, huh?). And the beginning of this post was sarcasm BTW... Or was it? [lol])

lol, I didn't even think that a car could get stuck upside down like that! Another myth busted, apparently.

In that case the assembly broke and jammed, thus preventing any motion I believe.

MYTH: Lifts using a chain cannot curve

I do not have picture or video yet...but I will find the ones I had. The Schwartzkopf ride Jetline features such a lift. Very odd, but it works. Will verify later. But its here for anyone who has that video or picture. I know its true.

That's what I was thinking, a coaster train stopping perfectly at that position without any damage to the wheels has got to be impossible.

As for Jetliner, I am guessing the chain is actually a normal chain tilted 90 to the left. The chain is constantly pulling downwards rather than to the left as most people see it. Can you envision that? The mechanism that connects the train to the lift must be "L" shaped or very unique to the traditionally shaped 'I" shapped connector.
