Have an option of donating in the point store instead of using up your points.
Add the VIP to the point store so that you could use your points to become a VIP witch would be challenging and maybe it would have some people design better coasters.
Add gradient to the point store. That?????????s all I can think of for now.

you can donate in the point store but it costs 50 + whatever you are giving away...

and about the VIP, i think that if you could buy it then people would spam more just to get VIP status, which wouldnt be good.

Some possible ideas, but the whole point of being a VIP is to recognize you as a donating member of the site, and IMO getting points to be a VIP isnt donating at all, its just donating to yourself in a way to become a VIP, and plus I dont think everyone would want the hassle of trying to accumulate enough points to achieve the position of becoming a VIP, and plus how much would it be to become a VIP do you think? 40 million? [lol]

I also disagree on being able to donate points to become a VIP. I do agree, however, that being charged 50 points to make a freaking donation is stupid as hell though.

the 50 point fee is there so that members don't make some account and than transfer the point to there own account, that also why your account starts with 50p

I doubt it. They'd still have to earn the points that way.

??huh??, i don't get it, the meaning of all of this is that members don't make accounts to get points to their original account

Oh, I get what your saying. Since members start off with 50 points they can transfer it to their main account...

50 point fee so new members don't go around making new accounts and sending themselves points. That way if they do, they get 0 points or can't donate at all. It's a senseless idea but whatever deterent works is a good one [:D]
And no to donating points to become a VIP.

How about doing something smart like waving the fee if the user has been a member for more than a month, or something like that. Or, better yet, why not do something like only allowing someone to donate (their points - 100) or something, so basically you'd have to have at least 100 to donate any, but not charge for the actual transfer.

I think the process works fine as well ... just my two cents.

I don't think I made my idea clear, my mistake. When I said "donate" in my initial post, I meant in terms of money. For example, instead of spending say, 300 points for a custom avatar, you could donate 3 dollars (or whatever cost) to the site. In this way, site donation would be encouraged in addition to basic forum activity.

As far as the VIP thing goes, I see how that could be a bit troublesome, and we don't need people spamming more than it already occurs. What I was thinking was that perhaps in addition to normal forum points you receive from getting medals, you could maybe get seperate "medal points". Earning enough "medal points" would earn you VIP status. For example, a gold medal would get you 500 normal points, but say 3 "medal points". After earning 30 (or however many) "medal points" that person would attain VIP status.

By doing these things, I think site donations would go up as would the effort of people to make more and better coasters, if not at least get even more of a reward for outstanding work.

I don't like the idea of being able to spend points/medal points to attain VIP status. The staff should be the ones who decide who deserves to be a VIP.

Donating money helps the site. Points do not.

We alreadfy have a make a donation button at the bottom of every page on the site that flashes for ya [:p] I don't really want to push the matter to the people but anything we canb get we appreciate. We only take paypal currently though.

You miss my meaning again. To my current knowledge, donating money will not give you anything cool from the point store like a custom avatar or adding glow to your name or anything like that. What I am saying is, is that it would be nice to get rewards from the point store for donating money. I repeat my example, instead of paying 300 point store points for a custom avatar, users would have the option of donating x amount of dollars to get the custom avatar.

- Well I say for his medal point if it would be possible you could get a Medal VIP so the people who got a lot of medals can have like thier own fourm section to talk about stuff for only special peeps to know.
- I see what he is saying but that may be great but people would not really want to pay some money to get a tiny (IMO kinda pointless) feature (unless your some crazy guy who wants all the special things in the fourm.) But wouldnt it take a while to get the things cause wws would have to validate the paypall and amount right.

ooooooooooooo
now I understand, hmm sounds like a good idea but I dunno, I don't see many people being able to donate since most are indeed underage, or don't use paypal to donate. We don't get many donations as it is now and I think it would probably deter people to use the site if we charge real money for simple fetures as custom avatars, ability to use sigs and text features.
