It looks like it could be possible though. I really don't see this type of coaster catching on. It would have to be themed really well in order to conceal the track, making Disney and Universal being the only buyers. Never deny what the coaster designers can build. Some stuff is just crazy... look at X.

If you actually look how the car moves up and down from the track then that will never happen so there will never be a real head chopper. The car moves up and down by a second pair of rails underneath [:D] so unless them rails decide to move, or the car breaks totally, it will never happen.

Not really. By totally breaking i mean the leaver in the middle snapping in too, which would be very hard to do.

i've seen this concept a long time ago. And i see they have updated the site a bit. Would be a really nice concept for heavily themed rides. You could theme away the track and still have a trilling ride. Probably a nice design for the year 2025, When the first prototype will be build. [:D]

at first the car is on the top of the vertical rail, and when the headchopper comes near, the car goes down the rail, avoiding head being chopped of.
my Q was:
what if the car is stuck on top of the vertical rail...

Its not on a vertical rail. It is on horizontal rails underneath the main track. [wink] The thing connecting the train to the bottom rail couldnt get stuck as there is no mechanism moving it to get stuck, other than that of the horizontal rail, which is firm like a normal track so cannot move. Surely this means it would be near impossible?

read the PDF on the bottom of that page. I didnt read it all, i just scanned through. It was quite interesting. Especially the quote "Cedar point and Magic Mountain, both US will be keeping there eye on progree of the canti levered coaster" < Well something along those lines. [:D]

Yeah, I saw this last year. It looks like this 'company' has nothing more than the patent, but probably not the capability to actually build it (unless a lot of contracting is done). It would be more realistic if one of the major industries in that field would pick up on it.

^^ Yes if like one of the big companies bought the design or something.

A lot of the design companies do not have the facilities to actually produce a coaster. Often one company will create the design, and then any number of manufacturing compaines produce the parts.

Every time I see that site, which has been around for years, and they update it, it just seems like a worse and worse idea.

hmmm, looks too bulky and expensive, for it to catch on, they'd have to change the way its designed and make it a lot more compact. Its a nice idea but it would have to be a lot smaller I think before parks, manufacturers etc etc, catch on to it and start building them.

Also lets not forget about the cost of something like this. The reason small rides are so cheap is the general lack of material. Commonly 2 rails and simple cross ties, with fairly ordinary straight supports. Its cheap because it doesnt use much material. Now compare something like a pinifari to something like this. This design uses a huge amount of material. Its seems expensive and sure would be a risk to build such a ride. I could however see a corporation such as Disney taking on the idea but i dont see smaller parks taking it on
