I probably should've started this earlier, but This thread will be for where I post screenshots on the upcoming stuff for these rides. There will be 4 rounds, the first one can be found here, if you haven't already seen it. http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_excha ... p?tid=7639

Now here's a screen from the 2nd round currently in progress. Not much now, but there will be more later when the modeling prosces is complete. Sorry about the crappy quality.

Sorry about the bump, I edited this post because of a problem I had with the modeler, but then fixed it.

Edit: Fixed up the wws links, which apparently bumped the topic. =/ As for ride progress, I'll get back to this when I have time. (though it has been idle for very long, like many of my projects)

I'll be working on it, but I can't give a reasonable esimate right now. (it has happened before, and still is. I have another ride that's been under construction since august 04, I'll work on if after I finish grapnd prix, it's a big coaster with lots of supporting needed, Neon Niter in case you're wondering)

If you want a guess, it might be about 2-4 weeks, but don't expect anything.

Oh yeah, in case anyone's wondering, I changed the arrow texture (you know, those booster like thingies for the jump). I added a new layer in photoshop, added a rainbow sort of texture to it, set it to a lower opacity, and adjusted the layer blend mode. I have found a better way to get the texture maps right (which does not involve OC anymore) so now, the smooth shading is correct, plus the curvature detail is a lot higher than before. Once I add a few elements to the track, the next screen will come. Thanks for the comments.

Im wondering if I should use those arrow booster thingies on both long straights when it speeds up quickly, or just on the jumps, or not at all. (sometimes, you can't make it too realistic [:)] ) Any opinions?

Yes, because IMO if it wouldnt speed up or anything, then the boosters would server no purpose on the track, but other than that coasteragent, it is looking bad ass so far.

I'll try to make this one longer, but it'll probably run only one lap. (having to do the settings twice, while trying to select intersecting tracks is a big pain)

Actually, if there weren't those boosters in the model, the vehicles would still speed up (it's part of the track design), the arrows in the model are just for decoration and to make it appear more dramatic. [lol] But since it IMO looks cool, I'll probably keep the arrows.

Anyways, I'm thinking of switching to a 1024x1024 road texture for additional detail, who's in for it?

Meh, who cares, it's switched, all I had to do was a few things in photoshop, and I doubled the detail. Not responsible for lag from users with integrated gfx.

Here's a new screen. I got delayed a little bit due to mistakes in the modeling process. I've also been playing more RCT3 lately.

The project is moving along slow and steady, I've been busy with other stuff though, like RCT3 and I also made a station for someone else's track. For the loop, I'm working on it, I just finished a turn. I have a few concerns about getting it to line up and stuff, hopefully it will work out.

Edit: Here's a screen. Didn't get much done in the last few days.

Edit: I'm having some trouble shaping the loop, it just doens't look right. Should I post a screen of it?

I'm going to have to scale those loops' bases since they're too much of a circle shape.

Oops [:I] I temporally made it an arrow texture to see how the texture mapping would work.

Anyways, I can't work on this too often, I've been playing lots of RCT3 and the Battlefield 2 demo, but I'll work on this while I can.

Sorry for the bump but I'm having some trouble with the loop. I haven't worked on it much lately since I've been busy with other stuff. But the loop is getting annoying... Maybe I should use a circle loop? Or maybe I should just mess around with the vertecies a bit.

Well, after getting inspired my mario kart DS, I went back to work and added a few more items to it. I'm really not that sure what I should do next, maybe make it dive down and into a trench? That turn needs to be more tight, another idea I had was to have it go through the loop. Also, the backsides were tainted red because I've had some problems with them randomly being set to the generic (null) material. I then changed it to checkered flag texture.

^there will be a lot of speed changes, pretty abrupt. The cars will have to slow down pretty hard to get through the turn, then drive up enough speed to get through the loop, then adjust for the turn. It will be interesting when building the track to see how it will turn out. Keep in mind this isn't supposed to be a rollercoaster.
