Again? Man, Six Flags Over Georgia really needs to find some way to keep from getting flooded. This is the exact same thing that happened with Ivan about 9 months ago.
This most likely is going to happen every year causing huge matenince costs.
What an amazing revelation.
Anyway, this always happens but I do not see them building a huge dam around the park ... lol ... it is just one of those things that happens here in "da south". We don't sweat it, and so neither does SF.
There isn't much they can do, expect install storm drains into the park, but in reality they woul dhave to extend far outside the park aswell costing into the millions
Depends. If the paint is rusted out, that water can get into places and further destroy the integrity of the steel.
I just worry about all that wood. I believe its pressure treated and such to withstand the forces and elements but being submerged in water? For days? Every year? lol
My dad lays hardwood flooring for a living, all his life, I know a bit about wood. Wood doesnt like water - especially when its submerged in it.
This is nothing new. The back parking lot is right next to the Chattahoochie River, which floods all the time. We had the same thing happen back in the early 90's when I worked there. Took us awhile to fire hose the parking lot, to remove all the mud. SFOG, has a good crew at cleaning the rides when this happens, and are used to this sort of thing.
