Buster

"Force Majeur"

This coaster was the best technically, and second best in adrenaline. It was a very good coaster, but was just missing that extra push to make it great. The race between this coaster and McFly?????????s track was close, but I decided that the gap in technical was just too great. This coaster is great in every category, and is most deserving of the title. Congrats, Buster. You have reigned victorious!

Technical:
I was very surprised to actually find a little pumping in this coaster. It was very minimal, caused by a double shift in banking near the middle, but it was still there. Aside from that, nothing to gripe about. Half a point off for the minor pumping. No other problems in this category.

Adrenaline:
This ride was good, but just didn't really feel fast and wild. It was a quick series of turns and hills, with a good combination of g forces, so it gets a great score nonetheless. The big problem was the speed????????? there were 3 sections of track where the train was only going about 30 mph, and it felt just a little slow in places. With any great coaster, there should be constant speed or a feeling of constant acceleration. This one held its speed for the first half of the ride, and then began to taper off a bit. The elements were still there, but the speed just didn't feel as good. Also, I personally like to have a bit of anticipation before the launch. A minor detail, but just something that can help to make it feel a little more dangerous.

Originality:
No theming, and just one kind of unique element????????? the elevated heartline transition. A solid build, but just didn't stand out too much. The support work was nice, though, so a bonus there. Well, not too much to say. The technical aspects were great, but you need a more crazy original ride to back it up. This coaster just seemed to suffer from mediocrity.

Technical: 9.5 Adrenaline: 8 Originality: 8 Overall: 8.5

Tyler

No Track Submitted. Final Place: 4

McFly

"In the Light"

This coaster had great pacing????????? the speed was nonstop! It was the technical side that cost you this contest. Still, a great job on your adrenaline and support work. In the end, you finished in a tie with ish for second, but this coaster won due to its higher adrenaline. Congratulations on finishing in second place!

Technical:
This is what burned you????????? everything else was great. I can tell that this was a rather rushed job????????? there was awful pumping on just about every inch of track, and bumps everywhere. Spend more time on track smoothing before you run the auto-heartliner. One more thing was that the lateral g?????????s were very high three times. 1.7 is way too much for an Intamin coaster, intentional or not. It would hurt very badly to get thrown to the left, then right, with 1.7 lateral g?????????s on both sides within 1 second. And the g?????????s on the first turn were very high, 5.5 for a good 2 seconds straight. Be careful. So, fix the pumping and watch your g?????????s. Enough said.

Adrenaline:
Brilliant! The speed was there from stop to finish, and I loved it. And you were the only person who included a pre-brake, which gave some nice anticipation going into the launch under the supports. That was cool. And the rest of the ride?... The other coasters were a bit long, but this one seemed to end at just the right moment. I would have liked to see a bit more originality, but the pacing was still very good. This score would be even higher if it was more original. Basically, you had good speed and pacing, but it was slightly repetitive.

Originality:
Great support work! An extra point for the wonderful structure. Also, I loved the interaction with the supports during the launch. However, the fun ends there. The track was kind of repetitive after the first turn, and the entire ride was basically overbanked or elevated turns and airtime hills. How about adding in a high speed ground turn or a double-up or down to shake the layout up a bit? Just do something unexpected.

Technical: 6.5 Adrenaline: 9 Originality: 8 Overall: 7.83

"Chaos Theory"

This track was nice, and a very good job for your first bout with elementary. However, the adrenaline just did not seem to be there, and there was one slight technical problem. Still, a good effort. This would have been near the top in a regular round, but it just didn't quite stand up to the adrenaline of Buster and McFly?????????s tracks. This coaster has earned 3rd place????????? congratulations!

Technical:
A great job! There was zero pumping, and no bumps or tugs either. The 2 problems were both in the tophat element. Problem 1: the speed was only 12 mph going over it, and the element was halfway through the ride. There would be potential rollback problems, especially on cold mornings. Problem 2: the negative g?????????s were in the yellow. Especially on Intamins, laterals and negatives need to be kept around 1. the force of -1.6 was just too much. Still, these were both split-second issues, and hardly deducted from your score. Another minor gripe is that the last brake run was uphill????????? it technically works, but it was rather weird.

Adrenaline:
The pacing was just not consistent. It gradually lost its thrill. The real thing that makes rocket coasters fun is the constant sensation of speed. On your coaster, it just never felt out of control. The elements felt a little predictable, such as the first turn which just kept going and going????????? and the near-stop in the tophat broke up the pace of the ride a little too much. That would have been fine if there was a nice strong finale, but the tophat marked the end of the true sensation of speed. Also, I would have liked to see a nice sustained floater airtime hill????????? every one of yours was a short ejector air hill. And one last note????????? add anticipation. The launch was just straight from the station, and it is nice when you get to wait a few seconds and get the anticipation buildup before the launch. Just add in some more variety, and finish the ride with a ?????????bang?????????.

Originality:
Your coaster was the only one with theming, so you get some bonus points here, even though they were unfinished. The track was okay, but there was nothing that really felt too original. Everything on this track was good, but not great. Try to liven up the pace a bit, and finish the theming. Not much else to say????????? a nice coaster, but just not quite as good as the other two.

Technical: 8.5 Adrenaline: 7 Originality: 8 Overall: 7.83

And so ends the 2005 Match-up Contest. Congratulations to Buster, and thanks to everyone for competing. I hope to see you all again in next year?????????s contest! Good job on all of the great coasters, and I hope to see more inspiration in the future.

THANK YOU ALL!

uah, crap.
I knew that the adrenalin would kill my score.
well done mc_fly and buster.
I would also be interested to see mc_fly's track.

Are there any new contest in progress?
I can't wait for the next one.

And one question:

If I had a good contest idea and a mod or admin really accepted it and hosts the contest, could I still take part in it?

Yes, as long as someone else is doing the judging.
